More info: Your diagnosis could be a couple things. If you had a bright spot on the xray it could represent a bone infarct, an osteoid osteoma which is typically painful at night and alleviated with Aspirin or ibuprofen, an old area of infection (sequestrum) or something more concerning like a metastatic lesion (less likely if dealing with it for three years and pretty young). Where is the pain: Hip pain may be the joint pain but it may also be the bursitis about the hip. You need to discuss this with your physician, consider X-rays if necessary. The tenderness may be due to muscles and soft tissue pain which would explain then pain with sitting and improvement when you get up. Can be angina: You have to rule coronary aetery disease first. Especially if you are menopausal. Menopausal women have the same risk of CAD as men there age. I would first go for an echocardiogram and thallium stress test first. If they are negative , i would order thoracic and lumbar MRI to rule out discogenic cause of rib , lower back pain, and hip pain. ...Read more
