Numbness: This symptom may be due to a nerve impingement in the wrist by thickened ligaments( caused by prolonged computer usage). Another possibility is vasospasm upon cold exposure as seen in Raynaud's syndrome. If associated tingling occurs, deficiencies of calcium,magnesium and potassium are possibilities. Most likely nothing: But pay attention to see if there are any other symptoms. This could be early signs of serious things like ms, but you are mostly likely too young to see this. More than likely it is dehydration and a magnesium deficiency. Try hydrating well, take some over the counter, low dose magnesium and see if these subside. If not, ask your primary care doc. Very common: I'm an inpatient doctor and see this often. This should go away in days. Sometimes this is from inflammation of the skin or veins because the IV irrigated it. The may even me a very small clot in the veins. You can put a warm wet towel over the area for 15 min every hour to help. It should improve.
