I Have A High Kidney Blood Tesst Bmp What Does This Mean
BMP: Bmp is a basic metabolic panel which has renal tests (serum creatinine and bun) included. It could be that one or both of those levels were elevated. Your doctor needs to go over in detail what was abnormal and if necessary, send you to a kidney specialist (nephrologist) for further work up and evaluation. ...Read more
The kidneys are paired organs that lie on either side of the vertebral column. Part of their critical functions include the excretion of urine and removal of nitrogenous wastes products from the blood. They regulate acid-base, electrolyte, fluid balance and blood pressure. Through hormonal signals, the kidneys control the ...Read more
My husband has had two blood test taken, both indicated his kidney markers
are significantly elevated.
What does this mean?
More work-up needed: Any medical test needs interpretation together with a patient's history, examination and imaging. Abnormal blood tests for kidney function suggest a need for further explanation of why. Reasons may include problems before blood flow gets to the kidneys (like narrowed arteries), problems with the kidneys (kidney disease) or after the kidneys (like prostate enlargement). Don't panic, get evaluated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Blood test results showed elevated liver enzymes and elevated kidney function. What does this mean?
Need for evaluation: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking a history, physical examination, looking at the actual lab results and may be additional studies. Lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is in the best position to do that. ...Read more
I have a 99 efgr rating on a kidney blood test. What does this mean for me. Do I have kidney problems and what over-the-counter meds can I take?
Normal: I am assuming the estimated GFR is 99 ml/min. While i join other pathologists and nephrologists who has little use for subscientific estimates of glomerular filtration rates from spot creatinines, this suggests to me that your serum creatinine was normal, and that your personal physician is not concerned either. I'm sorry you got a scare and glad you're taking a proactive approach. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have lupus and concerned with my test results having high levels of protein and blood in my urine. Infection and blood clot in my kidney last year. ?
I'm concerned too: Lupus produces problems with the kidney filters more often than not, and this usually announces itself as blood and protein in the urine. Your physician knows how to manage this with others labs. If you had a renal vein thrombosis, it's very serious and you need long-term management by a competent nephrologist. Read up on lupus nephritis and on urinalysis and how to understand the big picture. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I was sent to get a blood test because of kidney stones that a sonogram revealed I have. My results show that my MPV is high at 12.7 Is that normal?
Platelets: MPV=mean platelet volume This is a little used value in thehemograom, with only weak correlation with disease states. Like red cells, younger platelets tend to be bigger, and stress reactions may prompt earlier release from the marrow. Many possible causes, but little utility in isolation. ...Read more

You have asked this: question previously and received answers. You need CT angiography, direct angiography, or perhaps contrast Chest MRI. If you have no symptoms and no exertional restrictions it is not of sufficient clinical importance to determine the etiology as treatment would not be advised. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
HIgh potassium level: Factitious hyperkalemia (fh) is caused buy potassium (k) leaking from the intracellular space while taking a sample of blood. Other causes are the rupture of red blood cells in the test tube which elevates k levels. Fh is seen with increased platelets in a person's blood. If you were not acidotic, and have a normal, for age, creatinine level, i suspect you had fh causing your high k reading. ...Read more
Checked heart, lungs, kidney function,... Did tests from ct to stress test, blood tst,etc... All perfectly normal the only problem is a high systolic especially on my right arm 140-160. Dr said chest pain was nerve but bp unknown cause what could it be?
19 High BP R arm: High blood pressure in right arm in young male suggests co-arctation or the aorta pre ductal. This congenital heart vessel defect encroaches (narrows) the aorta before the take off of the Left subclavian artery so that the BP is low in the Left arm. But because the BP is also low to the kidney it secretes a hormone called renin which raises BP trying to get more pressure to the kidney. Consult me. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
