Depends: Many infant illnesses are viral & fever will last several days before recovery. If baby is taking in enough fluids to wet every 6hrs or better, is playful for much of the day & has no specific symptoms you can let it run its course. If baby can't seem to be playful at all, looks sickly or otherwise spooks you, call the doc's service or go in. ...Read more

Hello. : Hello. I can't diagnose your toddler's problem. However, his fever rose to 104, he is not eating, he is complaining of pain near his ribs and he has a bad cough. Is he having difficulty breathing or wheezing? There are many possible causes for this type of fever in a toddler; influenza is a common one.
