I Have A Badly Bruised Toe How Do I Treat It
See Podiatrist: To get proper evaluation and treatment. This will require ingrown portion of nail to be cut out. In the mean time, try soaking and apply antibiotic cream/ointment. If ingrown is superficially and can be easily cut back, you can do this yourself but is deep nor difficult to do, get medical attention. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Bone bruise: To be sure about a "bone bruise" or contusion, an MRI is usually the best way. However, a toe bone bruise is not a serious injury that needs an mri. Instead, simple x-rays, and clinical findings of pain, swelling should be sufficient enough. I hope this helps, if so please vote me up, or follow me. Yesturday I hurt my finger but I don't know how to tell if I jammed it or sprained or fracshured it?
May Need X-ray: Jamming your finger is a mechanism of an injury. Jamming your finger most likely would cause a soft tissue injury, that is, damage to a ligament, a joint capsule, or a tendon. The only way to determine whether you have a soft tissue injury or a fracture would be for you to have your finger evaluated by a physician and if indicated have it x-rayed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am not sure by your question if it is boney, cystic, warty.....etc. Please show it to your physician for help. Sorry I can't be more specific than that. How do I know how serious my ankle injury is? I twisted my ankle walking (rolled it) and it hurts pretty bad and is swollen. Could I have broken it? If it is a sprain, do I need to see a doctor or will it just heal on its own?
You : You certainly could have broken it, and most broken ankles are from a simple "inversion injury." doctors use a set of rules known as the ottawa criteria to decide whether or not a sprained ankle or foot needs an xray. You can do a quick search for "ottawa rules" on the internet and see what they involve, but the bottom line is that the interpretation of the rules requires a bit of knowledge of anatomy, so they can be a bit difficult for a layperson to interpret. Basically, i would recommend seeing a doctor unless you have no trouble walking and the only spot on your ankle/foot that is tender and swollen is just below and in front of the lateral malleolus (the bony lump on the outside of your ankle). Even if is just sprained, it may still be beneficial to see a doctor to get a supportive boot known as an "aircast.". ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Take a x-ray: A plain X-ray often will help tell the difference between a soft tissue injury ("sprain") and a fracture. AN X-ray coupled with an exam usually is sufficient. At times there is still a doubt and there are other radiology test that can help determine if there is an "occult' or compression fracture. These tests include: MRI, CT scan and bone scan. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
