Weight bearing?: If you are able to bear weight on it and move it then it's probably not broken. An xray can tell for sure. A blood collection under the toenail can evolve into wonderful colors. Might be easy to fix: Hard to tell from your description, but this could be a "subungual hematoma, " or a collection of blood under a fingernail or toenail after you've bashed it. Usually it's just a drop of blood, but it can really hurt! A doctor or nurse could show you how to drain the blood and relieve the pain (but not all nurses know how).
