I Hate My Round Face I Want To Look Like Jen A Can Surgery Reshape My Jaw
Yes, but...: Your expectations need to be realistic. Jaw surgery will only help if you truly have a jaw deformity. You might benefit from a facial implant to reshape your existing jaw, without actually repositioning it. You should see an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in consultation to see what, if anything, could or should be done to reshape your face. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it true that having a chin implant could cause facial nerve damage? I want to have chin implant surgery to correct a weak jaw line. I've heard that this procedure sometimes causes nerve damage and patients look like they have suffered a stroke. What ar
A : A chin implant placed by a well trained facial plastic surgeon should be a relatively simple procedure. While there are risks associated with this procedure--they are extremely rare. What you are describing is an injury to the facial nerve and specifically the marginal mandibular branch (causes the corner of the mouth to be pulled down such as in a frown or even slightly in a smile) which could cause some asymmetry in your smile but not so severe as to be confused with a stroke. Having said this, I have never seen or even heard of this nerve being damaged during a chin implant. There is a sensory nerve (feeling only) in the area that is more at risk. It is the mandibular branch of the trigeminal nerve and again it is only for sensation. An injury to this nerve would cause a spot of numbness to the chin and lower lip on the side that was injured. I have heard of some temporary numbness after chin implant surgery (few to several weeks) but never a permanent one. This is most likely due to the swelling and inflammation after surgery. I hope this helps! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Yes.: Orthognathic surgery, or corrective jaw surgery, is routinely performed by oral and maxillofacial surgeons for correction of jaw deformities. However, your question is a bit vague. If, as i suspect, you mean that your lower jaw is too short, then you might benefit from an operation to lengthen your lower jaw and/or advance your chin with a genioplasty. See a trained oral and maxillofacial surgeon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Rhinoplasty before jaw surgery? I'm 23 and i want to get jaw surgery for my TMJ and asymmetrical face, but want to wait until i'm 25+ to get it.
I'm planning to get rhinoplasty in a couple of weeks, but many have said to get your jaw surgery done first.
As : As dr fleming stated, you would be better off having any surgery to your upper and lower jaws first, then the rhinoplasty. Are you sure you need jaw surgery? Have you consulted with an oral surgeon? An orthodontist? It appears you may need a team to work with you to get things just right. Consult with them first. Hope this info helps. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

What surgerys can fix vertical growth of the lower jaw, can upper jaw surgery alone fix a long face with a long lower third?
I had lower jaw surgery 5wks ago and an incision was made to my right masseter. My face is assymetrical because its still swollen. How do I reduce it?
May take time: It may still be swollen from inflammation from the procedure and just take time to diminish. I would suggest you contact the doctor who performed the procedure and ask to be seen and evaluated. The surgeon would be able to give you the most accurate answer to your question. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
