Having constant lower abdominal&lower back pain for 3+wks. Neg 4 uti. Had lavh/bso in 2013 d/t endometriosis. Pain worse w/everyday activities. Help!

So sorry : For approximately 7 to 10% of women who undergo the surgery you had for endometriosis, these women still have pain related to endometriosis despite having the surgery. I'm so sorry you're going through this. The best you can do is see your gynecologist again. Maybe a trial of Lupron (leuprolide) to see if it helps with pain? Good luck and i'm so sorry. ...Read more

Ignore it: As a pathologist, i'm not impressed with the ability of a slightly elevated sed rate or c-reactive protein to provide useful information in the absence of clinical symptoms pointing to something fairly specific (polymyalgia rheumatica, for example). Many people who seem free of systemic inflammatory disease run high; the sed rate is famous for lab errors as well. ...Read more

Does intercourse hurt after tah bso?

No: Once the healing of the vaginal incision is complete (about 6 weeks) intercourse should be as comfortable as it was before the surgery. The vagina should be the same length and caliber. Painful intercourse could be due to a change in hormones resulting in vaginal dryness. This can generally be treated with lubricants or vaginal estrogen. ...Read more

Should I still have a burning pain that comes and goes on the right side following BSO surgery? I'm almost four months post op?

No: The burning pain may indicate that something is amiss. Most sensory abdominal nerves that have been interrupted by surgery have healed by now. Adhesions can also cause pain during certain movements. Have your previous surgeon re-examine you. ...Read more

I'm a FTM who has had TAH & BSO but my vagina is still intact. I have a strange pretty solid lump inside my vagina and have to wait until Aug 18 4 GP.

Good to check: I do not think we can tell you exactly what the vaginal lump is at this time but that is a good decision to schedule a doctors appointment to get it checked out. Since your appointment is coming up fast you won’t have to wait long to find out. ...Read more

I am 42 y i did tah bso for endo 4.I am on anti estrogen therapy now I am having severe lower abdominal pain.Is it possible that endometriosis is back?

Possibly : I imagine that you had similar pains before surgery. It is unlikely to have endometriosis recur after the ovaries are removed unless they are giving you estrogen replacement. Endometriosis can cause scarring and adhesions along with the surgery, and some of these pains may have to do with old scarring but can be due to recurrence of endometriosis. ...Read more
