Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

If you are having any other symptoms ( I assume you are and that is why you had and ultrasound) then please be sure to discuss with your treating doctor. Hope this was helpful. I had a tonsillectomy 2 weeks ago and since the surgery my urine flow has weakened, is that normal?

No: If you are using pain medications for post-operative pain, these can slow your bladder's ability to empty properly. This is completely reversible after stopping the medication. Antihistamines can cause the same symptoms. ...Read more

Have an evaluation: Women who enter menopause at age 40 will frequently begin ovulating (and having periods) again. If you have a breast discharge, you should have it evaluated--especially if it is on one side only and is bloody. Milk production can be a side-effect of medication or result from hormone production. See your Ob/Gyn to find out for sure. Best wishes! ...Read more

FNH of liver? Need m: You may not have enough space to relay your questions about FNH. I presume it is FNH of the liver, which is generally a benign condition with normal blood tests and a harmless prognosis. However, FNH has to be distinguished from hepatic adenoma (hepatoma) which may be what the repeat testing is for; however, a contrast-enhanced MRI is the best test (not CT). Use HealthTap Prime or TTYD for clarity ...Read more

See your OB: What has been monitored on U/S is your fetus's growth and that has been good. Now you report a vaginal d/c. Yr placenta does not stay still but actually moves a bit and may have migrated slightly to over yr cervical os. Yr OB can see on U/S and monitor it. ...Read more

This : This is a difficult question to answer without examining you. One possible diagnosis would be retained placenta from your delivery and this would be evaluated by an ultrasound. Another possibility would be fibroids or adenomyosis, which might have caused pain and cramping prior to your pregnancy. Best to be evaluated by your obstetrician. ...Read more

You : You have already had one pregnancy after your tubal ligation, therefore it is safe to assume that your tubes recanulized (reconnected). You should take a pregnancy test. Otherwise see your doctor since it is not normal to feel like you are "dying". This definitely warrants further evaluation. Good luck. ...Read more

I had the cooper coil put in in june 2013, since then I have had almost constant bleeding and it is still continuing is this normal?

IUD problems: Bleeding that is constant or heavier can be a complication of iud's. In general, a physician would determine the extent of the bleeding by doing an examination and blood tests to determine if you are developing anemia. If it is found that the bleeding is causing complications, then in general the iud is removed. ...Read more

My sister had a DC last week and she just past a piece of skin/tissue in her urine. Is that normal?

D&C: Well it wasn't in her urine but came out of her vagina when she urinated. After a D&C the uterus gets a scab in it as it heals and their also may ne a small amont of tissue left in the uterus. Both of these have to come out and that is what she is seeing. Has long as she is not bleeding heavily like a period or more she is alright. Even : Even though there is a 1% chance of pregnancy after having your tubes, there are more likely causes depending on your age and other symptoms. Reasons for a missed period besides pregnancy are stress, poor diet, extreme exercise, weight loss, hormone imbalance such as with thyroid disorders or polycystic ovarian syndrome and even peri-menopause if you are older. You should take a pregnancy test just to be certain you are not pregnant. If you are still not sure why your period has become irregular, you should give your ob/gyn doctor a call. Good luck! ...Read more
