I was told I have uterine fibroids but i haven't had my period in a year. Occasionally have severe abdominal pain. Is this normal?

Yes: Sounds like you might be in the menopause? Depending on the size of your fibroids, they can definitely cause severe abdominal pain. Hopefully, in menopause, they will shrink. I would see doctor for an evaluation. ...Read more

I had a hysterectomy and removal of my tubes and ovaries. However, two years later, I had a very painful area in my pelvis and was told that I had endometriosis. Is this possible?

I had a hysterectomy and removal of my tubes and ovaries. However, two years later, I had a very painful area in my pelvis and was told that I had endometriosis. Is this possible?

Endo post Hyst: Removal of the uterus tubes and ovaries is not curative for endometriosis if the endometriosis was not removed at the time of surgery. Even then microscopic foci of endometriosis could regenerate down the road and cause pain. Now i would like to remind you that there are other conditions that may cause pain not related to endometriosis, such as interstitial cystitis, pelvic floor spasms. ...Read more

How quick can a cyst grow? I had my ovary removed due to a cyst, but could this have been prevented if i had a scan sooner

Why would a doctor ask if i had a tubal pregnancy or have had a history of cysts after doing a pelvic ultrasound? I'm having cramps and it hurts down there. I have had this problem for a year but never thought that to say anything.

Many : Many of the questions that we ask as physicians are routine questions that we ask every patient. It can help sort through a differential diagnosis. The questions don't necessarily imply any particular concerns. I am glad that you are seeing a specialist and having an ultrasound for your symptoms, that sounds like an appropriate evaluation. ...Read more

Go see ur FamilyDoc: Without painful urination, it's very unlikely for you to have a kidney infection. At your age, it's unlikely for you to have ovarian cancer. However, you should see your Family Doc for evaluation & treatment. Perhaps you're suffering from endometriosis or maybe you're pregnant. In 09 i had a thermal ablation and a tubal ligation. My cycle never stopped can I have a child if I have a tube reversal?

Very difficult: When you undergo endometrial ablation, the procedure causes scarring in your uterus making it very difficult for an embryo to implant in your uterus. While tubal reversal and ivf are effective in helping you get pregnant after a tubal, it would be unlikely to work in your situation. ...Read more

I have black periods is this a side affect from the implannon?. I also have had a C-section 2 years ago and have had thrush a lot this year

Not likely black!: Vaginal blood can get pretty dark but I have not seen black vaginal blood. I do not believe the color is directly related to the implanon. A c section 2 years ago does not lead to black blood. I am not aware of a direct cause of thrush from either ...Read more

I had ovarian cancer a year ago. I have been healthy since but I am having pressure and pain in my pelvic region for a week could it be cyst or cancer?

Very possible,,,: This is rare in women your age and if surgery was done and it was all removed, there should be no recurrence, but if it wasn't all removed, it can certainly recur and would likely need surgery again with chemotherapy. You'd be we'll advised to see your doctor for at least a follow up exam and for evaluation on this important issue. Best of luck. ...Read more

Even without showing signs from the vaginal ultrasound, is there still a chance i could have blockage in my fallopian tubes? My husband and I have been try to conceive for 2 years and have yet to be successful. I have gotten my hormone checked, ovarian fu

Even without showing signs from the vaginal ultrasound, is there still a chance i could have blockage in my fallopian tubes? My husband and I have been try to conceive for 2 years and have yet to be successful. I have gotten my hormone checked, ovarian fu

Vaginal : Vaginal ultrasound is the best test for looking at your ovaries, a good test to look for problems with the uterus such as fibroids, but a poor test for checking your fallopian tubes. Normal tubes and tubes blocked where they join the uterus don't show up on ultrasound. Some tubes that are blocked at the far end can be seen on ultrasound, especially if they are very enlarged and full of fluid (called a hydrosalpinx) but even these can be missed on ultrasound. The best test to check your tubes is a hysterosalpingogram (hsg) test where we inject x-ray contrast through your cervix and use real-time x-rays to see if your tubes are open, to check for scar tissue around the tubes, and to check the inside of your uterus for fibroids or polyps. I also recommend more detailed ovarian reserve testing for you, including an antimullerian hormone (amh) level. Your husband may need a repeat semen analysis - it is unusual, but not impossible to have a low morphology score with everything else about his sperm looking normal. I recommend seeing a reproductive endocrinologist at this point. Our website is below. Hope this helps. Best wishes. ...Read more

I am 32 years old and I have not had a period in a year or more my doctor said I had dysplasia on my cervix could this be why don't have a cycle?

Maybe but not likely: If a person had severe dysplasia that was causing a blockage in the cervix to prevent the release of menstrual blood that might prevent a cycle but would be very rare. Most of the time absence of menses is a hormone imbalance. In general these are two separate problems. ...Read more
