I had a gastric bypass 2 years ago. Is it safe to perform a 10 day cleanse?

Clean is good: If you mean a 10 day meal replacement with a balanced low sugar shake like medifast or glucose-controlled boost (plus all vitamins) it should be ok. However, the best diet to work with a bypass is a solid meal (protein and veggies) with no sipping, fewer slider foods, no sweets and no bad snacks. I had gastric bypass 2.5 yrs ago. Im currently doing the standard process 21 day cleanse. Im on day 7. I feel weak & tired. Is this cleanse safe 4 me?

No cleanse: There is no "standard" cleanse of any type, let alone one that lasts 21 days. If it makes you feel weak and tired, it is probably doing you more harm than good. I would stop it, and maintain good hydration, don't eat too many calories, make sure the food that you do eat had all the vitamins and minerals, and take vitamin supplements as appropriate after a gastric bypass. ...Read more

See below: Constipation is also seen in patients following bariatric surgery. This occurs more commonly after LAGB and RNYGBP and is less likely with DS, although it may occur in rare cases with DS. It is usually due to insufficient intake of water, and may be corrected by diligent attention to water ingestion and the addition of fiber products like Metamucil or Fibercon. ...Read more

Could you tell me what happens ten years after a gastric bypass?

10yrs after bypass: Hopefully nothing. We hope that your bypass anatomy stays the same and that you maintain your weight loss. People can regain weight if they overeat, eat junk food, or don't exercise. You have to constantly work at it. Sometimes the weight gain is due to stretching of the pouch or anastomosis or both. In general though, people do fine 10 years out from surgery. ...Read more
