I had a C-section is there a good cream to treat the scar.. This was 6months ago.?

Not really...but: You could try different scar cream/remedies. I personally do not believe that there is a miracle fix, but I do suggest vitamedmd scar reduction cream. It won't hurt and may help. With repeat c-sections, i always take out the previous scar and if there is a keloid present, will inject kenalog (triamcinolone) steroid into the incision after closure which may help prevent keloid formation. ...Read more

Adhesions: Adhesions develop in the abdominal cavity as a result of inflammation caused by surgery and the healing process. As long as your doctor has ruled out a hernia or infection as a cause for your symptoms, gentle regular massage around the site of your surgical scar may help loosen the adhesions and decrease your symptoms. ...Read more

I am 5 weeks post c section. Healing was good, incision fine. Now I suddenly have pain internally above and below scar. What could this be? No fever

Incision pain: when you cut the skin in the transverse incision (AKA bikini cut), you cut the nerves that supply that area of skin. when the nerves hit the new scar tissue you will get sharp to almost shock like pains on either side of the scar. Less likely would be an incisional hernia. ...Read more

What is a good over-the-counter cream to treat ingrown pubic hair scars ?

What is a good over-the-counter cream to treat ingrown pubic hair scars ?

Nothing OTC: Ingrown hairs occur usually after shaving. In some persons the hair will curl as it grows back. The sharp, beveled edge allows the hair to dive back into the skin, causing the ingrown hair. If you shave this area then stopping this practice will help prevent this from happening. If you are not shaving and getting a lot of these then you should see a doctor for evaluation. ...Read more

I had a C-section 3 weeks ago can I wear panties on my scar now or should I still wait?

I had a C-section 3 weeks ago can I wear panties on my scar now or should I still wait?

Should be OK: Usually the skin incision is well healed by 3 weeks. Also usually the skin closure is by a subcuticular stich that is self absorbing so wearing panties should be no problem whatsoever. ...Read more

Had a C-section month ago can I be able to do normal house chores this is my first section people told me I have to walk slowly so the scar don't open?

Gradual increase: Of activities. Heavy lifting is the most problematic. Walking is usually well tolerated. I bet your obgyn has an instruction sheet and knows all that was required for your surgery and any unusual risk. Ask? ...Read more

My wife had a c-section 10 days ago, & we just discovered she has an inch big whole where the scar is, do we need to go to emergency or what?

Call your OB: This is a wound dehiscence (split). Did it occur in the setting of trauma, bending or straining? If she has fever, pus or redness around the wound or severe abdominal pain (different from her c-sect pain) she should go immediately to the ed. Otherwise, call her OB and get seen very soon. If unable to get seen by ob, then go to the ed. ...Read more

Many good answers: Hi zebra. I treat women with your problem all the time. My favorite is non-invasive fat reduction using coolsculpting. This is a machine that goes over your unwanted fat areas and you get permanent fat loss. Most need 2-3 treatments to get the desired fat loss. For more immediate results, i like liposuction to the area. Not only does it flatten your stomach but it breaks up your scar too. ...Read more

I had a C-section 5/21. I still have numbness and feels like built up tissue at scar. Is this normal? Could this be too much scar tissue or sign that organs adhered to scar?

I had a C-section 5/21. I still have numbness and feels like built up tissue at scar. Is this normal? Could this be too much scar tissue or sign that organs adhered to scar?

Bikini cut?: A bikini cut would explain the numbness. The nerve pathways on chest and belly run mostly up and down and there is no way to avoid them when doing a "low transverse" skin incision. Nerve tissue takes the longest among all tissues to recover - months and years - and some numbness may remain. Discuss with your ob/gyn, when you go for your next pap smear. ...Read more

I had a c-section 3 months ago. My incision has healed, but the scar itches like crazy every once in a while. What is the best thing to put on it?

Hard to say: First determine the cause of the itching: 1) if it is due to ingrown hairs, depilation may help. 2) if it is due to histamine or inflammation, antihistamines ( topical or oral) with corticosteroids may be useful. 3) if neurogenic, scar massage or topical capsacin may provide relief. 4) if caused by a suture reaction, removal may be indicated. If a topical allergic reaction, cessation of ointments. ...Read more
