Hi I have been diagnosed with fybromyalgia and under active thyroid for six years, I have started to get double vision when tired! Is this normal?

Multifactorial: Fibromyalgia is a multifactorial consequence of hormonal, immune system and nervous system dysfunction resulting from genetic predispositions and dietary and environmental insults. These factors increase inflammatory chemicals which can cause pain and inhibit thyroid function. Double vision can be a serious problem. Have this checked out.

I get double vision sometimes when I'm very tired. What can I do?

I get double vision sometimes when I'm very tired. What can I do?

See an eye doctor: The brain keeps the two eyes working together so that each eye is looking at the same object. When some people get very tired, the control over the two eyes can temporarily slip, causing double vision. The usual treatment for this is rest and sleep. If this is new, or happening frequently, you should have a general eye examination.

Slight double vision when driving tired late at night. What is that?

Slight double vision when driving tired late at night. What is that?

Mild muscle weakness: Most common explanation would be a slight misalignment of the eyes when tired. This kind of double vision should go away when you close either eye. Other possible causes would not go away when one eye is closed. A type of glasses lens called prism may be able to help this symptom. You should be seen by an eye md for diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

Am I seeing double because of tired eyes? How to tell if it's actually double vision?

Am I seeing double because of tired eyes? How to tell if it's actually double vision?

Confirm yourself: Test for doubling by covering one or the other eye and seeing if the doubling disappears. There are a few conditions that can double one eye alone, but these are uncommon. If you are tired and the eye (s) have a tendency to drift, then doubling might occur due to the drift. If this is troubling or persistent, have your ophthalmologist check it out.

Convergence defect: This is probably something called convergence insufficiency. When we look at near targets our eyes need to move together or converge. Some people develop a weakness in this mechanism. Problem can be solved either with eye exercises to increase convergence or prism glasses.

Migraine for 4 months, tinitus when lying down, double vision, 1 blackout, blurred vision, fatigue what could this be?

Chronic migraine: There are many good medications for migraine treatment. Migraine is a serious and complex neurologic disorder. Today effective management of migraine involves three specific strategies: 1) patient education 2) non-pharmacological management (diet, sleep hygiene, acupuncture) and 3) pharmacological (triptans, topamax, (topiramate) etc) management. Rec.:see orofacial pain or headache specialist. Hope it helps.

Can m. Gravis present with sudden arm and leg weakness, fatigue, double vision when really tired and trouble swallowing? Gait problems as well.

Terrible spasms in ribs at night, spine stiff, hips ache, feet numb and burn, major joints ache, double vision, right foot drag, fatigue. Causes?

Neuromuscular issues: It sounds like you need a thorough work-up to make clear the cause of these symptoms. Seeing a neurologist might be a good place to start - or if you have a bright family doctor who can at least get the 'ball rolling'. There are different possibilities that come to mind including Lyme disease, vitamin B12 deficiency, MS, uncontrolled diabetes, heavy metal poisoning, and more -hope you get help.

I get double vision when I stand up suddenly after working long hours. Is this normal?

I get double vision when I stand up suddenly after working long hours. Is this normal?

Maybe: Anything sustained is not normal. So if it's just a few second of double that clears right away, then it's probably not serious and could be related to blood flow. Standing up quickly after working long hours--it sometimes takes a few seconds for the blood flow to catch up. Of course, it's best to get it checked out if your vision is abnormal.

Why I don't get double vision?

Diplopia: Doubling of vision can occur for many reasons. The most common is misalignment of the eyes which can be from trauma or damage to nerves leading to the eye muscles. Have you had an event from which one might predict you would get doubling of vision? You could ask about that in another question.
