Lymph node: The body has a series of strainers called lymph nodes that sift through stray fluids in the body & take out germs and other debris. You likely have & have had something going on with that leg,a series of bug bites or a sore, that led to the enlargement. These usually enlarge & shrink over 3-4 wks. If this has gone on 5 wks you may want your doc to confirm the process. ...Read more

Hard to say: A lump in the groin could be an enlarged inguinal lymph node, which can occur after a diaper rash or healing sore of the legs. Occassionally a testicle will retract into the inguinal canal and can be felt there. Inguinal hernias can also present this way. Best to have it checked to be certain. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Found this lump in my groin area. At first it was a red lump and yesterday i discovered a huge change in it. Do you know what it is?
No I do not: But, a guess would be it may be an abscess or a boil/carbuncle, or maybe an infected hair follicle (folliculitis). Any lesion like conditions should really be assessed with a clinical exam to get the definitive diagnosis to assure the correct treatment occurs, best wishes to you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

See a doctor but: it sounds like it could be an inguinal hernia. Other possibilities include abscess (infection), swollen lymph node, fungal infection, or varicocele/hydrocele. A physical exam could likely sort it out, and if it is a hernia that is causing pain or symptoms you may need surgery to fix it. Good luck! ...Read more

Hello! I've had this painful lump in my groin region for over 3 weeks now that won't go away. I get them really often but they usually disappear.
Must be seen: If this lump in your groin is associated with pain, especially if there is redness or swelling nearby, it should be seen by a general doctor. Sometimes painful lumps are lymph nodes that have become inflamed due to regional injury or infection. Sometimes the lump itself is infected and in that situation may need excision. Lastly, a hernia is possible. Get it checked as soon as possible.Best wishes ...Read more
