I Fell 20 Days Ago My Index Fingers Are Still Numb What Can I Do
Think I broke my middle finger 3 weeks ago. I still can't straighten it and still painful. What should I do?
Be seen: If you can't straighten it 3 weeks you should have it checked out. If it is broken and not set right, it can heal crooked which would be a serious problem as your grip and strength can be affected. A bad sprain can do this too, but usually after three weeks, it should be better if it s not a serious problem. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Hand Fracture.: First of all, what do you mean you removed it? Second stiffness is normal after being in a cast , range of motion exercises will help. Strain during sleep.: General principle: if some ailment occurs after an activity (temporal relationship), then it may very well be-not necessarily-related to that activity. My guess is there was some movement during sleep which caused the problem; perhaps you slept for too long a time in a position that pit undue pressure on that hand. Interesting side issue: stage 5 sleep (rem)- unconscious races, body very still... ...Read more
I smashed my middle finger between two chairs and it got purple and swolen. It's been hurting for about two weeks now. What do I do?
Depends: Depends on where you smashed it. If at the tip, even with a fracture of the phalanx it will be treated with splinting or can tape it to other finger. Important thing is to keep joint mobile to avoid stiffness. If its the middle knuckle it may be worth getting an xray and seeing if it is broken as injuries in that region can be more problematic. ...Read more

Neuropraxia: Numbness in the toes after an ankle injury or ankle surgery is fairly common. This is due to a nerve compression injury which is associated with the ankle injury. Most patients start to get their feeling back within a few months... some last longer than others and in very few cases, some do not completely return. Getting a follow up will help to answer some of your questions. Best wishes! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

The tip of my index finger has been numb since using it to start a grill lighter. 24 hours later it is still numb. Could I have damaged a nerve?
I cut my index finger open at work on some steel. Just below the tip going across. Had 4 stitches. 2nd july. Finger all numb still from tip to base.
Takes time: I'm not sure why, if your only injury was at the tip of the finger you would be numb at the base of the finger. The tip of the finger is so sensitive that you may just be interpreting loss of sensation at the tip as including the entire finger. Also swelling will cause numbness. The good news is that almost all nerve injuries in a finger regenerate but it can take a year or more. ...Read more

Thumb, index, middle fingers numb after carrrying plastic bags on wrist. Been 3 weeks and still persists. Will it heal on its own?
What would cause me to loose feeling in my thumb, index and middle finger on my left hand? I woke up and they were numb this morning and still are.
Nerve issue: This sounds like a nerve issue. Either it was positional when you or sleeping, and it is likely the same nerve, median, that carpal tunnel can affect, or a nerve from your neck or shoulder coming down. Typically this does resolve over time. I would recommend an evaluation if it does not. ...Read more
48 hours ago my left thumb and index finger tips went numb after a firm front neck massage. The feeling has still not returned. Should I see a doctor?
Yes: This suggests that you might have something (like an intervertebral disc)pressing on a nerve in your neck. It could be related to the massage if it was forceful enough to put your neck vertebrae out of alignment. You can see an orthopedist but I advise seeing an osteopath who does osteopathic manipulation- see http://physician.academyofosteopathy.org/ (or a direct non-force technique chiropractor) ...Read more

Was severely hypothyroid. Still have swelling of eyes and face (rash) and numbness in feet and index finger. Will that go away?
Correct meds: Are you getting the correct meds? Check free T3 and reverse t3. Ft3 should be in upper range and rt3 in lower range. If your ratio is off, you may need Armour Thyroid or t3, and synthroid (thyroxine) would be the wrong med for you. Also check spot urine iodine to make sure you are not deficient. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

The tip of my index finger has been numb and tingling for the past three days now--what could it be?
Pressure symptoms: Mainly the symptoms will occur from compression of digital nerve (finger nerve), or possibly median nerve at wrist.
