If you've already tried rinsing your eye out with no luck under irrigating tap water with your hand serving as a little cup while the water rinses your eye, then it's time. This is possibly a recurrent erosion syndrome. This usually occurs in patient with a prior history of a corneal injury. Treatment is usually with muro ointment at bedtime and muros drops during the day.

Test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot. Place warm compress the closed eyelid for about5-10 minutes and re-heating as necessary. Use dilute baby shampoo to clean lids. If it flew in with force (if you were drilling or grinding for instance), you need emergency attention. You might be able to see an object stuck to your cornea in a well lighted, magnifying mirror.
