Over the past 2 years, after long flights, I wake up in the night feeling of sand in my eyes and with severe pain/plus a feeling of haze over my eye.
Recently feel there is sand in my eyes mostly when I enback on a distance journey (say 3 - 5hrs) also observed something like pimples insid my eyeball?
???: I'm unsure of the question but if you have a sandy feeling in the eyes, you could have dry eyes or blepharitis. The causes are numerous. You could try artificial tears first. Seeing an eye care professional would be recommended for the best care. Since you live in Orlando, I'd be happy to help since we have a comprehensive dry eye clinic. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Dryness: Most likely your eyes have some degree of dryness. This is sensitive to your bodily hydration, atmospheric moisture and history of eye or systemic disease. If minor and does not affect the vision nor cause eye redness, you can apply over the counter lubricating eyedrops. If not minor, you should consult with your ophthalmologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Residual Erosion : Often this complaint comes from some type of issue with residual erosion or severe dryness. I would see an eye md or a corneal specialist for an examination if it is a persistent problem. Also i would look to see if you have a fan on a night or are sleeping in an overly dry environment. Often overhead fans can cause severe dryness to the eyes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Wear sunglasses: its not good to get a lot of sand in your eyes. Suggest you wear wrap-around or occlusive sunglasses at the beach. If sand does get in your eyes, rinse thoroughly with water or "Eyewash" which can be bought at a drugstore. ...Read more

Blepharitis?: Please make an appointment with your primary care physician or Ophthalmologist to rule out more serious problems. In the meantime, you can put warm wash cloths over the eyes and then use 1/2 baby no tears shampoo with 1/2 water on a Qtip or clean wash cloth to wash away any crusting around the eyes. Also would help to use sterile artificial tears in case of dry eyes. If visual changes, ER. now. ...Read more
Would I have ongoing symptoms if sand that got in my eyes scratched the surface of the eyes? Or the only way to tell is to get an eye exam?
It's possible : Sand has a lot of ground up minerals & rock, and who knows what else. If you get sand in your eyes, it's possible that some of the particles are sharp enough to scratch or even imbed the surface of the cornea or conjunctiva and result in a persistent foreign body sensation. If by chance the sand has iron in it, a significant inflammatory reaction may result. So, an exam is important to elucidate. ...Read more
