Many ways: Failure to retain new learning can occur at any age if any of many causes are present. I have a twicthing vein/artery in my hand. It occasionally hurts. I took a video to show it more clearly: http://vimeo.Com/34617295 should I worry?

Small Aneurysm?: I saw the video. Most likely is of no concern but if this is a pulsatile artery is very superficial and any trauma can make it bleed fast and easily. Have you or your family had aneurysms? I would check with a vascular surgeon if they thing it warrants to get at least a doppler ultrasound. Other remote possibility is a av malformation. ...Read more

I have MS & want to know how likely it could be that I have PBA? took a short questionnaire and it suggest that I do. Been feeling low & end up crying

Likely association: PBA can be seen with stroke, brain injury, ALS, and MS. Responds beautifully to the medication Nuedexta, twice daily. If your questionnaire is convincing, try some samples. Also, make certain that you are using a potent MS disease modifying agent such as Tysabri (natalizumab) or Gilenya to decrease some of the issues with this difficult disease. ...Read more

Even at 8g of Piracetam a day I noticed almost nothing. Could I assume that Modafinil would't do much either for my ADHD/brain fog or should I try it?

Even at 8g of Piracetam a day I noticed almost nothing. Could I assume that Modafinil would't do much either for my ADHD/brain fog or should I try it?

Theres other options: Brain fog? Is it ADHD? Could it be depression? Or something else? Have you gotten yourself tested or evaluated? Its hard to say if modafinil will help since it's different from the racetams, but how about stimulants or Wellbutrin (bupropion)? ...Read more

I have a severe antisocial personality. Ive been mute, shy and too frozen to even move my leg for PE lessons from kindergarten till grad. I even at times feel shy from my mom. I dunno how to speak nor act. But i find clever ways to get around. Idea ?

Symptoms: I would suggest an evaluation with a psychiatrist or psychologist to determine a course of treatment for your social isolation. It appears that you have a history of depression and ADHD, which may be contributing to your current difficulties. Treatment may include changing or increasing your current medications, and therapy depending upon your specific issues. Good luck! ...Read more

I feel like I have a learning disability, because other people read what I read, but they get a different story from it?

I feel like I have a learning disability, because other people read what I read, but they get a different story from it?

Hard to say: Learning disabilities typically refer to specific tasks such as reading or doing arithmetic that are hard because the brain processes information in inconsistent ways--letter or word reversals, for example. What you are describing is a much higher level of processing. "different" doesn't necessarily mean "wrong." if it's really a concern, see a psychologist for testing. ...Read more

At 17 it is normal: o feel this way. You are going through a very chaotic phase in life and in the process doing a lot of work getting to know yourself. Virtually everyone your age feels the way you do even though most will not admit it. I can't take away the struggle but I can tell you that you are more than good enough and you will know that . You can make sure this is the case by simply Doing your best at everything you do and making it a point to help others. Talk with your parents and believe them when they say good things about you. Tell yourself this is a stormy time but you have what it takes to make it through. If you can, volunteer to be a peer counselor at your school. ...Read more

I have headaches that i think they may caused by stress!i study hard and i sleep 5-6h a day, it comes suddenly then it goes away. What can I do for that?

Tips: I congratulate you on your strong study ethic. It would behoeve you to take breaks every hour - drink some water, walk around, stretch. Additionally, stretch even when you are sitting at a desk or computer. At age 17, you need more than 5 to 6 hours of sleep per night. Aim for 8 hours, insure you are eating healthfully. Try to be physically active every day. Consider adding in yoga or tai chi. ...Read more

I have trouble making out what people say, even at a close distance. I do not think there's anything wrong with my hearing. Could it be psychological?

Yes, it can happen: But it struck me that a more common attitude would be the opposite. In any case, hearing can be checked fairly easily to rule out the ear functioning. Also, if you feel that your thoughts ; feelings do unusual things for your perception, it is worth some attention in therapy - even if your hearing is compromised. Being distracted vs trying, but failing can make a difference too. Find answers. Best. ...Read more
