Is it healthy to only eat once a day? For as long as i can remember i've only eaten once a day. It's not that i don't want to eat, it's just that if i eat three meals, or even two, i feel extremely bloated and full, even if the meals weren't anything big.

As : As a board certified physician nutrition specialist, i can state that there is no good evidence that your eating pattern is bad for you. You may be interested in my blog post below on eating multiple times a day. If you feel well and are at healthy weight no problem. I am a bit concerned about your abdominal symptoms though. You should get checked for celiac disease which can cause bloating as the only symptom. Only a blood test is needed. ...Read more

R/O IBS: IBS = irritable bowel syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion. You need a full exam and blood work. Especial screen for H pylori . Also stool screen x 3 for occult blood /parasite/hpylori . Given age over 50 you also need a baseline colonoscopy. While you are getting these items checked out you should stick to a gluten free high fiber diet . Ie gutbliss.com and Wholeapproach.com. Also 64-80oz water ...Read more

The : The most important thing you left out in your post is if you have seen a medical professional for this problem. If not that needs to be done asap. The easy simple answer here would be gas. Try over the counter beabo or gas-x. Also, you could be dealing with lactose intolerance, try a week with no dairy products and monitor for improvement. To answer your question, "is it anything serious" is very difficult. The most worrisome thing would be a tumor (benign or cancerous) but that is not very likely. However, in order to get to the bottom of this you need a medical work up. Best of luck. ...Read more

I have very inconsistent bowel habits. Feel very bloated sometimea even after a bowel movement. Also feeling off fullness even after a light meal.?

Maybe not just gas!: Bloating, irregular stools, and fullness may reflect diet (check your fiber intake), alterations in the population of healthy gut flora we each carry, food intolerances, maldigestion due to problems of the small intestine, pancreas, or biliary tree, changes in GI motility (how well your GI tract mixes and moves food along), various infections, and even irritable bowel syndrome. Probiotic: If you took antibiotics to deal w/flu it is good that you are now taking probiotics to replace the good bacteria that was killed off. If the probiotics you are taking are not the kind you need to keep in the fridg i suggest you use that kind because they are more alive than the ones on the shelf. Alternatively, l-glutamine powder is a pre-biotic which prompts the body to create probiotics. ...Read more

Bloated stomach and getting bigger though i eat 3x a day small meals.

No short answer: You don't mention pain, nausea, vomiting or constipation. There all a lot of different "small meals". If it contains several rolls, or dips of ice cream you may be getting too many calories, or not exercising. I trust you have done a pregnancy test. I have noticed that 45-50 yrs old is a time that women have more trouble with weight. You should see a physician as there are other possibilities. ...Read more
