Likely viral: You probably have a viral syndrome with possible influenza or just a cold. Is good to show your throat to a dr to rule out streptococcal infection or other pathology. If you have neck rigidity or stiff neck is imperative to see a dr right away. ...Read more

Can you get the flu with no runny nose or sneezing.just a headache, sore throat, and body aches?

Can you get the flu with no runny nose or sneezing.just a headache, sore throat, and body aches?

Typical influenza: Although flu (influenza) can cause nasal congestion and sneezing, often it does not. Your symptoms are very typical -- especially if you have fever and also develop a cough. However, you shouldn't assume the diagnosis, and flu season is over. So see your doctor -- if s/he believes influenza is likely, treatment with an antiviral drug like oseltamivir (Tamflu) may speed recovery. Good luck! ...Read more

Today I woke up with sore throat-like symptoms, no runny nose, no fever, I have a bit of body aches, though.?

Sore throat aches: May be post nasal drip (you can have without runny nose) or strep or flu. Drink lots of Vit C, which helps for viral infections. Try zyrtec(for post nasal drip), elevate head of bed, drink fluids go to doctor/urgent care and get checked for strep, flu is less likely because usually have runny nose but can have more subtle signs so may check for that as well. . ...Read more

Been feeling weak and tired. Body aches. Then came down with headache, irritated sore throat, and runny nose (a cold) feel better. Still, have a weak jittery feeling throughout arms and body.?

Viral syndrome: You have described a very typical viral syndrome. We call it this because we often don't know the name of the virus or how you got it, but the symptoms of fatigue and body aches are classic, as is the sore throat and headache. Feeling "jittery" is not unusual. It will resolve without antibiotics, only helpful in bacterial infections, with rest, hydration/fluid, and acetominophen/ibuprofen. ...Read more

If I am very sick (102.1 fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, slight body aches) can that delay my period at all?

Possibly: Yes there are reports that have shown that a fever can delay ovulation and then subsequently delay menstrual bleeds that occur after a delayed ovulation. So you might not be that regular this month. But this does not occur in everyone the same way. Your fever might not have any effect on your menstrual period. ...Read more

Been having stuffy/runny nose and sore throat/cough no fever no headache. What can it be?

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). A couple days of throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) can decrease throat pain. ...Read more

Green mucus: Sounds like what everyone gets. Drink lots of green tea with lemon and honey. Don't blow nose hard. This material is infected so bag your nasal wipes.

Been sick since yesterday. Fever, sore throat, runny nose and headache. Today, my left-hand feels bruised and heavy? Worried about a stroke??

Anxiety: Fever, sore throat, runny nose and headache sound pretty typical for an upper respiratory infection (aka "cold"). Colds don't cause strokes. You list anxiety and panic attacks on your profile — I suspect your fear of a stroke falls into that category. Be brave. You're going to get better! ...Read more

Viral Infection: A viral infection usually doesn't last that long but cough and the other symptoms could last for a while. If you have these symptoms at the same time each year, it could be 'seasonal allergies' too. Continue the symptomatic treatment. Get checked by your doctor for any allergies (like to pollen, dust mites, pets) etc. Aviod the triggers if you test positive for that. ...Read more

Still flu: Influenza can definitely cause people to have ongoing fevers for a week or more. Unless you have reason to think you might be immune suppressed or have some kind of auto-immune issue then it is probably safe to persevere (provided you are staying the same or getting better). http://www.health.govt.nz/your-health/conditions-and-treatments/diseases-and-illnesses/influenza ...Read more

I got 102 fever 4 days ago. No runny nose. No sore throat. Just discomfort swallowing. Now the fever is gone and there is an all body rash. Help.?

Could be...: This could be related to a viral infection and it is common that after the fever the rash appears. However, if you still feel ill and since we are unable to look at the rash right now(unless you make a consult via video or pictures in HT Prime) you should be seen for a final diagnosis and management. There are other conditions that can present in a similar way. ...Read more

Sore throat, stuffy/runny nose, headache, chapped/bloody lips, coughing up blood. What's wrong?

You need exam by Dr.: Coughing up blood should never be ignored and should warrant an office visit or at least a phone call to your physician. A normal cold will not usually result in coughing up blood unless the coughing was very prolonged and severe. Even then it's best to speak with your physician as
it is one of the warning signs of lung cancer.
