Lactation Help: Dostinex (cabergoline) can inhibit milk letdown, you can still try. Moms generally given this med for several days to stop milk production.There is no infant safety info re this medication as it is generally not used in breastfeeding moms. Yes but ....: You may want to discuss what baby is doing with the doc or his/her nurses. Babies often spit up/ become gassy with anything you feed them (breast or bottle) and sometimes a change in formula,technique or bottles can reduce what you see as a problem. ...Read more

Sure!: You may not be able to restore quite full mild production, but start putting baby to breast every feeding (or as many as you like) then supplement with a bottle afterwards. The natural stimulus to the breast with the baby suckling is better to get milk flowing than the pump. See a lactation consultant asap! Don't be discouraged! twice daily feeds will deliver important antibody to protect! ...Read more

Keep breastfeeding: Breast milk has antibodies that help reduce viral diarrhea length. There is no medication for diarrhea at this age. Keep buttocks covered in vaseline. However, exclusively breastfed infants will often have squirty mustard looking stools with chunks - often called diarrhea by those used to harder firm stools of formula fed stools. There have only been a few studies of breastfeeding mothers on Anafranil (clomipramine) and their infants. In one of the studies, the babies were followed for 2 years and no untoward effects on growth or development were detected. The babies' blood was tested for the presence of anafranil (clomipramine).
