I Cant Keep Weight On My Son But He Refuses To See A Doctor
My son (age 12) dropped a 5lb weight on his toe. Should we take him to see our family doctor? Will he loose his toe nail?
I believe my son has milia under his eye. I cant afford to see a doctor at this time.. Is there anyway that I can treat this myself. He is 5 years old?
No: I wouldn't recommend doing anything to remove the milia, especially in a delicate area near the eye. They need to be mechanically removed/extracted, and a dermatologist or some pediatricians can remove them. No hurry, just get him an appointment when you have the time and money. Be healthy! ...Read more
Waiting to see specialist. Doc said possible growth plate fracture. My son cant stand on foot and falls to ground. Is it normal to worsen everyday?
Stay off it.: If there is even the slightest possibility of a growth plate fracture, you son should not be standing. You need to keep the foot immobilized and elevated as much as possible. If there is swelling, apply ice. Depending on how long you have to wait to see a specialist, you might call your family doctor to push things along. ...Read more
An Rh negative mother refused Rhogam during her first two pregnancies. Now she is pregnant with my son's baby. My son is B+. She waited for 6 months to see a doctor in her last pregnancy. Should she visit a doctor?
You got lucky: If the mother has been sensitized against rh (called the rhesus antigen), then she will make antibodies that will cross the placenta into the fetus. When that happens, the result can be very serious disease or even fetal death. Before rhogam, death from this cause was very common. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Hi there..My son is 19 months old..He is 96 CM height and weights 15.3 kgs..Doctors keep on telling me that he is overweight. So what do you think?
My son has this clear bubble on his bottom lip, how can you get rid of it? And the bubble is huge.. The doctors that I see keep saying it is normal.. What do I do?
Mucocele: The bump on the inside of his lip is probably a mucocele. It is caused when the duct to a minor salivary gland gets clogged or traumatized and the saliva backs up forming a fluid filled bump. They are most common on the lower lip but can occur elsewhere in the mouth as well. Small ones can resolve on their own. Large ones (as shown here) require surgical removal by and oral surgeon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can children have hyperthyroidism? My son’s been anxious, can’t sit still and can’t concentrate. I thought maybe adhd, but the doctor says no. Now he’s losing weight, even though he eats a lot. Maybe more than usual. Could he have hyperthyroidism? He’s 6.
Yes, : Yes, this is possible. Grave's disease is relatively rare at this age, but certainly not unheard of. It is easy to test for with a simple blood test. That being said, out of a thousand children with the symptoms your child has at age 6, perhaps one would have hyperthyroidism as a cause. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Loose ???: I would look to his feedings and just cut back some. The effort would focus on feeding only for hunger and not to solve fussiness or prepare for sleep. The best way is to feed only as they awaken, and accept that they chew, mouthe, suck constantly as a comfort measure.Your goal should be to slow the weight gain not necessarily loose weight. ...Read more
