Decongest and saline: Your eustachian tube is clogged and filled with fluid. Use any 12 hour decongestant nasal spray (2 sprays/nostril) every 12 hours for 3 days, then stop. You can use nasal saline spray every 3-4 hours and over then counter claritn or Allegra to dry the mucous. Advil as need for pain. ...Read more
Can I put flonaze directly in my ear? I have used it for a year and my allergies are better. But I can hear the fluid in my ear. Stacey S
Wrong place: Flonase is usually used for the nasal cavity. However I can see how it may be used for the ear canal when it has an inflamed issue. Nonetheless the aqueous nature may induce a fungal infection in the ear canal instead. You need to consult an allergist to find out what may be causing the ear problem. Perhaps the fluid is causing a fungal infection & and the flonase is counter-acting it. ...Read more

Eustachian tube: Hello, your ear symptoms are due to a eustachian tube dysfunction. The lining in your nose continues into the eustachian tube. Any condition affecting your nose will in turn cause ear symptoms. I would recommend afrin nasal spray as directed for 5 days. An otc decongestant can be used as directed thereafter for 7-10 days. If the symptoms persist, then see your ent. ...Read more

I blew my nose and now I can't really hear out of my right ear & there is pain & ringing. I am just getting over a cold, could this be fluid on my ear?
I'm hearing a slight deep "whooshing" sound in my right ear, almost like fluid (my ear is dry), and it coincides with movement- especially when I jump?
Still may be fluid: If you swam or showered, a thin layer of liquid can adhere to the tympanic membrane or ear drum and cause this sensation. Or some fluid can ooze out of tissue and be behind (inside) the eardrum. The outside the ear drum liquid should go away on it's own. And often the inner liquid will also resolve. If pain occurs or the whoosh doesn't clear after a week, have a doctor examine your ear. ...Read more
