Not unusual: It is not unusual to see your pulse in your abdomen especially if you are thin. It is probably normal, but without an exam i cannot say that for sure. It would be very easy for you to see your family doctor to have it checked out. ...Read more

Calm down.....: Relax, there is nothing terribly unusual about discovering the existence of various pulse points throughout the body. The aorta is the largest vessel leaving the heart and as the heart pulses, so goes the aorta. It's unusual that a 17 yo girl would ask about this, so i wonder if you've discovered a family history of AAA. ...Read more

Only way: To know for sure is by getting an ultrasound examination. Unless you have a genetic disorder, AAA is unlikely at your age. But you should have your blood pressure checked, both when pulse is pounding and when it is not. ...Read more

Probably not: Very thin patients can often feel their aorta and become concerned that it represents an aneurysm. I wouldn't worry at all. And at 19 an aortic aneurysm would be really unlikely unless you had a connective tissue disorder like marfan's or ehlers-danlos syndromes, but this is likely something you'd have found out by now. ...Read more
