Maybe several weeks: Ribs are used when we breath, so each breath can cause discomfort with a rib injury. It can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks for a rib to heal. If the pain persists, see a dr. As an x-ray may be needed to see if you suffered a fracture of you rib, which can take longer to heal than a "pull or sprain." nsaids like Ibuprofen (if no allergy) can help as well. Had an exam lately?: Being the worrier that i am, I am always concerned when people mention difficulty breathing. Your weight and being male may be risk factors for heart disease. Others are smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, a family history of heart trouble, and inactivity. Any of these apply? Please get to your doctor for a full physical. Exercise: You are probably overdoing it. You need to start slowly and build up slowly. Try walking for a half hour at a time comfortably and slowly build up distance increasing no more frequently than every 2 weeks. Also get checked by your doc to be sure no problems interfering. ...Read more
