I am on birth control and I got my period early and its bright red. Should I be worried?

Probably normal: As long as this is a transient, as opposed to recurrent, occurrence (more than 5 cycles). This can especially become an issue with ocp (oral contraceptive pill) transitioning. If symptoms persist and/or worsen, it would be wise to undergo a work up. Depending on your age, history and stage of reproductive life, the differential diagnosis is vast. ...Read more

I am not on birth control and my period is supposed to come the day before my wedding next weekend. Is there a way to make it come early or late?

YES.: Although time isn't on your side here, female hormones can delay menstruation, the shedding of the inner lining of the uterus. If you have a primary doctor, they might call in an RX of an appropriate hormone to delay your period.. Or, you could use the Health Tap app to get a virtual consult with a HealthTap physician. and explain the situation to him or her. BTW, congrats! ...Read more

Menstrual : Menstrual changes, such as what you described in your post, are fairly common in women at any point in their reproductive years. If you missed any pills, or were late taking them, this could also be a possibility. Also consider taking a pregnancy test even though the odds of this are less than 1% if you take your pills as directed. Other causes of abnormal periods are increased stress/anxiety, extreme weight fluctuations, hormonal imbalances (including thyroid disorders). If the bleeding persists, or your cycles do not normalize over the next three packs of pills contact your doctor. Take care. ...Read more

I started my period a little over a week early. I am on birth control and do not miss a pill. Usually I cramp, but this time I didn't. What's wrong?

Probably nothing: This is not a period but what we call breakthrough bleeding. Your period on the pill should come predictably at the end of your pack. This can occur randomly, or if you are inconsistent taking your pills, or may be triggered by other medications like antibiotics. Effectiveness may be reduced so use backup contraception. ...Read more

Just got my period a whole week early, and have really bad cramps, and I am on birth control pills. I still have a whole raw of pills to take. Help:(?

OCP and period: It may be normal for you to have heavy bleeding on birth control pills. The amount of bleeding relates to how thick the uterine lining develops on the pill. If this is your first time on the pill, it may take some time for your body to adapt. If you missed taking any of the pills, or took some medications that may alter the efficacy of the pills, that would also explain the bleeding. ...Read more

Missed pills: Likely missed pills and now with withdrawal bleed. Couple options: Stop pill for 4 days, allow for bleeding, then restart new pack. Next is get rid of sugar pills, take 3 pills x 2 days, 2 pills x 3 days, then take one pill daily. When you take birth control pills you do not have 'periods', you can completely control when you choose to bleed. ...Read more

What to do if i take birth control but im two weeks early for my period what should I do?

What to do if i take birth control but im two weeks early for my period what should I do?

Wait and see: The first thing to do is to check a pregnancy test, to make sure you are not pregnant. If you haven't missed any pills, and this abnormal bleeding doesn't go away on it's own, or if you continue to bleed abnormally then you need to see your dr- some women develop breakthrough bleeding on their pills, and it may be due to excessive thinning of the uterine lining. Sometimes a different pil is needed. ...Read more

This is normal: Whenever you stop birth control pills you can expect to have what is known as withdrawal bleeding. This is why you spot or bleed when you forget a pill.
