I am in a monogamous relationship, am I safe from herpes?

I am in a monogamous relationship, am I safe from herpes?

Maybe not: Two people in a monogamous relationship must both start out free of herpes. That means "the couple" is herpes-free. Then, each partner must stay monogamous in order for herpes to not enter the couple's relationship by way of a third party. However, most adults already have herpes type 1 (but not herpes type 2) even if they don't get cold sores. Either type can cause oral or genital herpes. ...Read more

It's possible: No way to know based on information you have provided, but genital warts could be present in this cirumstance. Almost everyone gets genital HPV at one time or another, even with few partners and/or consistent condom use. Warts often show up a year or more after catching HPV Probably your prior STD testing didn't include HPV. See your doctor or an STD, GUM, or sexual health clinic. Good luck. ...Read more

I am a male and wondering if I am allowed to have unprotected sex to have a child, if I have hepatitis c?

Risk lower than HIV: There is some question on the transmission of hcv in a serodiscordant couples - with little if any virus found in seminal fluid - however, if sexual practice incurs small tears in the skin, then blood exposure is possible. A study in 2003 (sex transm infect 2003;79:160–162) demonstrated no hcv transmission in serodiscordant couples. Based on current data , go ahead. ...Read more

I was recently diagnosed with HPV-16. I am in a committed relationship and am wondering what I can do to protect my partner from the virus. ?

Use condoms: These are my recommendations 1. use condoms, for contraception of choice. 2. Have a healthy life style, and avoid risk factors like smoking, alcohol, etc 3. Let your partner know , and ask him to be tested 4. have regular pap smears, and GYN exams, and make sure you have had screening for all other associated communicable disease regardless Chances are high that everything will clear by itself. ...Read more

Not likely: Both partners should be treated after the positive result. False positives are possible but false negatives are more likely especially in male testing. Chalmydia can be spontaneously cleared without treatment. It is not likely that the infection has been there "for years" ...Read more

I have very minor outbreaks and i have never passed genital herpes to any of my previous partners. Did i infect someone by having sex on my period?
