I Am Depressed And On Citalopram I Have No Energy Still And Feel Hopeless Do I Need A Higher Dose
I am depressed and on citalopram. I have no energy still and feel hopeless. Do I need a higher dose?
Antidepressants in general may take 4-6 wks to work and so this should be kept in mind. I'm not sure your current dosage, thus can't be sure if u need higher dosage.
U may need additional or different medication to help your symptoms. Reconsult your doc for further assessment. In the meantime, doing some outdoor activities, group activities, aerobic exercise etc. Which may help.
Best of luck.. ...Read more

I'm prescribed celexa (citalopram) 10mg for depression. I feel like it's helped a little but I still have no energy to do anything and I've gained some weight?
Hang in there: How long have you been on Celexa (citalopram) 10 mg? It usually takes about 4-6 weeks before you see consistent improvement in symptoms. That being said, your dose may need to be adjusted further during this initial period. The lack of energy may be contributing to the weight gain, although it certainly is possible that it is a side effect. Recommend discussing concerns with doctor. Hope this helps. Best. ...Read more

Had swollen thyroid glands and night sweats got really depressed and lost my appetite fatigue insomnia all getting better on citalopram 20mg now?
Depression or Viral: Your symptoms except the 'swollen thyroid' could be explained by depression, which citalopram helps. It could also be infectious mononucleosis (glandular fever), which gives swollen lymph nodes, and can be tested for (& resolves spontaneously). If thyroid or lymph node swelling persists for more than a couple weeks, you should have an ultrasound of the thyroid and neck to exclude rarer diseases. ...Read more
Wanna change my remeron (mirtazapine) 45 mg for depression to something else I'm still depressed half the time no energy gained 70 pounds only good thing Is sleep?
Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health.
sleepiness, weight gain are two of the main problems with mirtazepine (remeron). It is chemically a bit different from other anti-depressants and prozac, paxil, zoloft (ssri's), wellbutin, or Effexor (venlafaxine) are different anti-depressants that are chemicallyh distinct from Remeron and likely to give diff result ...Read more
Ok remeron (mirtazapine) is not working still depressed no energy bad mood and no sleep what is a good antidepressant for sleep and depression?
Psychotherapy: Do not assume the answer is medication. For most patients with depression, the effects of antidepressant medication are indistinguishable from placebo. Medication alone is not good treatment for depression. Psychotherapy (by itself, or in combination with medication) is the appropriate treatment. ...Read more
34 year-old woman continues to suffer gynecologic pains, especially with bodily movement, after da Vinci surgery for fibroids and endometriosis.....?
Ovarian conservation: Unfortunately this is fairly common; my best guess is it's related to recurrent or ongoing endometriosis. There are many (good) reasons for preserving ovaries when having a hysterectomy, but good data show that if ovaries are conserved women are 6 times more likely (62% vs. 10%) to have recurring symptoms, and 8 times more likely to need additional surgery (31% vs. 4%) than those who have them removed. Adhesive disease is certainly another possibility. ...Read more
I was on 10 mg of citalopram and I upped my dose to 15 mg and now I feel horribly depressed again. Advice?
Medications require: Careful monitoring/adjustment by prescriber. Take only as prescribed. Discuss effects & symptoms with prescriber who will guide dosing or consider additional/alternative interventions/therapy. It is possible that 10mg is better than nothing but 15 mg is too much. Consider life situations that may be contributing to depression & address them. Work on healthy living habits. Hope you feel better soon. ...Read more

I'm suffering from periods of depression, usually for 1 to 2 month, daily from 10am till 6pm have no energy to do anything, in the evenings I'm fine?
I bad night terrors since I took celexa (citalopram) for depression, I've been off it since sept and they still happen. Is it because of celexa (citalopram)? Can I do anything?
"Night terrors"?: Actual night terrors happen in stage 4 sleep -- different from nightmares, which happen in rem. Celexa (citalopram) can definitely increase the number of rem episodes/night -- with vivid dreaming & nightmares. Ongoing nightmares after stopping Celexa (citalopram) can relate to the depression & anxiety still being present, possible alcohol or other substance use, etc. I'd suggest following up with a psychiatrist for help. ...Read more

I have no energy and very tired all the time. I have no appetite and suffer from depression. What can I do. 43 year old women?
Seek treatment: I will first recommend to rule out other possible causes of these symptoms. Get your thyroid hormone levels checked because hypothyroidism can cause all these symptoms. Depressed when the house is a mess? My kids make a lot of mess (which is normal) but I have no energy to tidy. I feel overwhelmed and want to sleep : (
Divide ; conquer: I feel your pain. My family, too did not appreciate the beauty of a clean home. It is impossible to keep it all up by yourself at all times. I suggest a trick I have utilized. Pick 1-2 areas that must be kept up always - perhaps a living room. This is doable on a daily basis. Then pick a room for each day of the week (i'll clean bathrooms on wednesdays), and leave the rest until its day pops up. ...Read more

I seem to have no energy during the day. What steps do you recommend for gaining back energy? I have no thyroid problem and no depression.
Many causes: There are so many things that can cause fatigue during the day it's probably best that you discuss this with your doctor so he/she can run labs and find out exactly what's going on with you. At the very least, make sure you get plenty of sleep. Some people gets by with 6 hours but maybe you need more. Also, one of the most common cause of daytime somnolence is obstructive sleep apnea. Eval this. ...Read more
Why am I so tired, is it due to shingles or depression, have no energy, what can I take to help me stay awake at work and be productive at work?
Fatigue: This is a common complaint and can have many causes. Suggest you get a thorough evaluation of your physical health from a PCP and if all is normal, perhaps a visit to a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist. Depression is a frequent factor and requires more detailed questioning for diagnosis, but the fact that you mention it makes it more likely to be relevant. Good luck and wish you better soon ...Read more
Whenever depression strikes so bad, I tend to oversleep for nearly 11 hours a day wth fatigue. What to do in order to restore normal energy levels?
Wellbutrin (bupropion): One possibility of treatment is wellbutrin, (bupropion) in cases like this. But for many reasons, it could be not an option in your case. Also, we should know if trials with the meds you mentioned were sufficient in lenght and dosing. Atypical depression is another possibility to consider; it has a different treatment approach. Ask your dr if any of this may apply in your case. Best wishes. ...Read more

I'm bipolar and under a dr but would like second opinion. I'm on celexa, (citalopram) still depressed. Other meds?
Can't do it: Doctors here cannot give you a true second opinion, because we have not taken your history or personally examined you. It wouldn't be fair to guess about you or your needs. Perhaps you can speak with your doctor about getting a formal second opinion from another psychiatrist in your community -- who could assemble needed info with you before commenting. Many doctors appreciate colleagues' ideas. ...Read more

Can depression make you feel like you ate dying? I feel sure I am but dr says no. Could he lying? No energy. Weak. Weight loss. Cant do as I used to
Yes, unlikely, 2nd op.:
Yes, depression can make you feel like you're dying. If you were dying i'd expect your dr. To tell you. While depression can cause your symptoms there could be other causes such as hypothyroidism, parasites, food allergies etc. Metaprolol & Alprazolam can both cause depression as side effects.
