Get up earlier...: First, get up earlier (even if you don't want to). You are more likely to be tired in the evening if you didn't sleep until 2pm. Then, avoid caffeine/stimulants after lunch. Get exercise during the day. As it nears the time you would like to go to bed, turn off the tv (and phone — all texts can wait til morning), relax, read a book. Sleep in a dark room without tv/radio, etc. Take care. ...Read more

Insomnia: Can be difficult to treat. You are likely not ready to go to sleep (my guess is you force yourself to bed early so you can wake up early for work or school) One way to combat this is to " pull an all nighter" on the weekend. The next day you'll run out of steam and get sleepy early. If the music persists try a white noise generator at night. ...Read more

For the last month or so within 10-15 minuted after I eat I quickly fall asleep. Cant make myself stay awake, seems worse when sweets are eaten. Why?

Daytime sleepiness: People who are sleepy during the day tend to be even sleepier after they eat. It may have to do with hormones released from the gastro-intestinal tract in response to food intake (especially carbohydrates) or because more blood flows to the gastro-intestinal tract and less is available for the brain. See a sleep medicine specialist to find the cause of your daytime sleepiness. ...Read more

Looks : Looks like you have 'situational insomnia'. Heidi highlighted some excellent pointers for insomnia in general. These will be helpful as well in getting sleep. Try not to 'think too much' about your sleep or looking at clock/watch all the time. Try not to 'try to sleep'. A short course of sleep aids like Ambien or sonata (zaleplon) may be helpful and talk to your doctor to prescribe this for you. Try to find out the 'situation' that lead to this sleep problem and see if you can address that though we are all aware of life's event that may or may not be so easily addressed.
Hope this helps... ...Read more
