Pedal edema: The majoriy of women will experience leg swelling (pedal edema) during pregnancy, and for most it will increase as the pregnancy progresses. Usually this type swelling is worse in the evening and better in the morning - and there is no treatment needed. When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. Common: Varicose veins are just dilated veins near the skin surface. They are very common during pregnancy. Blame your parents for them, the tendency to get them is genetic. If they are painful, wearing support hose may help and so can ice packs. They will get better or go away after pregnancy but will recur with future pregnancy and as you get older. ...Read more
35 weeks pregnant. My knee hurts really bad, I'm not able to move my leg because of the pain and I can't put pressure on it. What can it be?
See your doctor: If swelling is associated will need to rule out a deep vein thrombosis. Late pregnancy carries a slightly higher risk and often the only presenting symptom is leg pain. The typical test is a doppler or ultrasound of the leg. If no obstruction, then can be handled as a typical strain or sprain as the ligaments in general will be getting slightly more loose in preparation for delivery. ...Read more

Neck pain after chiro manipulation-MRI showed bulging c5-c6 and hypoplastic right vertebral artery. Intermittent tingling all over body (face, legs, everywhere) but primarily on left side (where most pain is). 35 weeks pregnant.
Neurosurgeon ASAP: Hypoplastic vertebral artery means narrowing of a neck blood vessel and people who have it are often born with it. This increases the risk of stroke. Pregnancy also tends to make the blood clot more easily thus you are at increased risk of stroke. Manipulation could also have causes blood vessel tear in a compromised area. Given you are having symptoms, immediate evaluation is highly advised. ...Read more

Varicose vein/c doc: Although this may just be from varicose veins, since they are painful, you need to see your doctor to make sure that you do not have a blood clot in the leg veins which may lead to life-threatening consequence if not treated. Blood clot?: Swelling of one lower leg, especially after an injury, can be a sign of a blood clot (deep vein thrombosis). Please go to an ER now. ...Read more
I believe I have a torn ACL. I have swelling arty the knee and under the knee. Now I've noticed from my hurt knee all the way down to my ankle my entire leg /chin/ankle is really swollen. This is new. Is this due to the injury?
Be seen: I would be seen. It could be a torn ACL or other ligament or cartilage, there could even be a component of a sciatica to your complaint; but when people begin to complain of swelling in the leg itself, a blood clot is a consideration as well. And, because that is potentially life threatening, you need to be seen to rule this out. ...Read more

The good news is that your heart is not failing, which would have been detected on the ultrasound of your heart. When this occurs your heart does does pump blood effectively which ultimately results in fluid accumulation in your lower extremities.
As far as why you have swollen ankles/legs its hard to say. You may need to decrease your salt intake. Also if you have any pain, redness, or tenderness in your leg (s) then your doctor may need to do an ultrasound of your lower extremities in order to rule out blood clots.
I suggest you schedule a follow up visit with your doctor in order to investigate this problem further.
Best of luck. ...Read more

My leg has been swollen on my shin from a bruise I got in a car accident almost two years ago, what or how can I get the swelling down or go away?
Right leg is swollen and hurts. Hurt it years ago running and it keeps swelling and then goes down and swells again. What could cause this?
Swelling of leg: If the leg swelling is recurrent and subsides overnight but reoccurs later in the day, I would be suspicious of chronic vein damage which might be an aftermath of the old leg injury which may have caused phlebitis. If the leg swelling is not in the leg or ankle, but in the knee, it suggests cartilage damage. If it's not a knee problem, consult a vascular surgeon for evaluation and treatment. ...Read more

Depends on the cause: The 2 most dangerous reasons for swelling in this patient are an infection and a blood clot. If it is infection then he will need to be on antibiotics.
