I Am 17 Years Old Should I Be Taking Any Vitamins
Gummy vitamins: Why would you do that? Call poison control for further information now. ...Read more
Yes: That is less than 2 a day. Most gummy vitamins are low potency and the only vitamins that are really toxic are taking massive amounts of pre-formed Vit A or iron. I don't know what brand you took but most gummy vitamins have little or no iron and little Vitamin A. Most gummy vitamins are so weak you could eat 150 at once and be OK (though I do NOT recommend it). See comment: ...Read more
Waste of money: B12 in excess quantities is rapidly excreted by the kidney. While this much daily probably won't hurt you, it won't help much at all. The typical daily dose for replacement of deficiency is 500mcg. Thanks for trusting HealthTap! ...Read more
Have a 17-year-old taking Bactrim sulfamethoxazole tmp wondering if there will be any drug interaction if she takes an herbal allergy pill that I got at the health food center that has vitamin A, C, pantothenic acid, calcium, zinc, quercetin, n-acety
Probably OK, but...: I doubt there is any serious potential for an adverse interaction. However, one of the problems with "natural" medicines, herbal products, and nutritional supplements, etc is that their exact contents often are unknown, And even when known, there is little research on interations with other drugs. So hard to be certain -- but probably no problem. ...Read more
It is safe: It is safe for a non-pregnant woman of child bearing age to take a pre-natal vitamin. I'm not so sure it is going to help a whole lot with your hair growth. Hair growth depends on many factors, just one of them being adequate vitamin intake. So I wouldn't do this thinking it's the magic bullet to long hair. ...Read more
I am 17 years, 170 m, 55 kg, I have hair loss, is there any specific diet I should follow or any vitamins I should take, I also have dandruff?
Manage your dandruff: Aggressively. See if you can use a basic dandruff shampoo alternating with ketoconazole. You'll need to get physician guidance here. If after getting the dandruff cared for, you still have hair loss at age 17, have a dermatologist evaluate you. I trust you are euthyroid. Food choices / diet has little to do with most health issues despite all the huckstering. Good luck on managing this. ...Read more

Healthy food...: Learning healthy habits - nutrient rich whole foods, small amounts of healthy fats (avocado, coconut oil), small regular meals (5-6 per day), regular exercise (cardiovascular and strength training) - is what is best for you. I would recommend against artificial/chemical supplements to gain weight. ...Read more

Diet and exercise: Eating a balanced diet, rich in fiber, is one of the most effective lifestyle changes you can make for your hemorrhoids. A high-fiber diet, together with plenty of fluids, softens the stool and increases its bulk, which will help you avoid the straining that can cause hemorrhoids or worsen symptoms from existing hemorrhoids. Along with a healthy diet, exercise can help ease bowel movements. ...Read more
Not your heart: Jaguar, hearts don't hurt with eating - ever. You're having chest pain - it could be due to esophageal motility issues or acid reflux or, if it occurs after meals, it may be due to stomach or duodenal problems, maybe even an ulcer. The cornerstone of treatment is an accurate diagnosis so please consider seeing your family doctor for some targeted testing. Good luck. ...Read more

What do you suggest if I am 17 years old and weigh 146.5 lbs, is this over weight and how can I lose weight?
Lose weight: That depends on your height. If you are 4'11" then yes you are overweight. If you are 5'5" you do not need to lose weight. Just calculate your bmi (body mass index) using google. If your bmi is under 25 then you are not overweight. If you are overweight, just eat healthier (less bread, rice, pasta, tortillas, soda, junk food, fast food) and exercise 3-4 times a week (cardio). ...Read more

Fat: If a woman's bmi or body mass index gets low (less than 20 or so), then she might not have enough fat on her body to have normal menstrual cycles. The amount of exercise shouldn't affect your period, but the amount of fat on your body can. An hour and 30 minutes of exercise a day is great!
