I Am 12 Weeks Pregnant Can I Take Flagyl
FDA pregnancy: Category b: use of (flagyl) Metronidazole for trichomoniasis is contraindicated during the first trimester; the manufacturer makes no further recommendations regarding use during pregnancy. Best to consult your obstetrician regarding any risk. Best regards for a for a good pregnancy and a healthy baby.
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have been told to take Flagyl to treat my bv. Is it safe to take during 1st trimester or wait till im in my 2nd trimester?
Wait: Although this is considered safe in pregnancy as a general rule, there is a published caution against use in the first trimester.
I was given Flagyl 500mg twice since being pregnant. Now people are saying it isn't safe. I'm almost 12 weeks so what's gonna happen to my baby?
About 1 week pregnant, doc told me to take metronidazole (er dr.) is this safe and if not, is it safe to wait until after 1st trimester to treat it?
Metronidazole: Although Metronidazole has been on the market for almost 40 years, its use remains controversial during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Recent evidence has shown, however, that this does not appear to be associated with adverse effects during either pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is not a fun drug to take, and stay away from alcohol while taking it or you will be very ill.
A little brown discharge not for a complete day at 12 weeks pregnancy and it stopped. Please does it means that all is okay? Or can I do home pt test

No: Most mom's who have been pregnant before can pick this up at about 16 wks. Most first timers don't pick it up until later (20 wks).
Yeast: This sounds like a classic case of a vaginal yeast infection. There are many over the counter vaginal yeast medications that you can try. If this does not solve the problem then I would schedule a visit for testing.
FDA Category B: Potential benefits must be balanced against risk. Fda category b - "animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women or animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester".
9 weeks pregnant and I took 500 mg of flagyl for 7 days. Now I am reading that shouldn't take in first trimester. I am so upset and worried?
This is a: Common "happening" although not making "easier" for YOU there IS NO DEFINITIVE EVIDENCE THAT FLAGYL HAS ANY HARMFUL EFFECTS in early Pregnancy...There is not sufficient data to allow the use of the drug across the board and the FDA will NOT "confirm" its safety until more data is available! Hope this helps (a bit)!See 2 more doctor answers
21 weeks pregnant. Just finished Flagyl for bv. Still feel like I have symptoms. How long will it take for symptoms to disappear? Should I be worried
Bv and pregnant: Can be some time 2-4 weeks for symptoms to resolve. It affects the normal vaginal bacteria and take some time for it to get back to normal. Not to worry at this point. Keep your ob in the loop if symptoms persist another 1-2 weeks. Hope this helps. Good luck and congratulations on the pregnancy!See 1 more doctor answer
Don't self medicate: Did the physician who prescribed the medication know that you are pregnant? Are you self medicating with antibiotics that were prescribed for a previous infection? Please clear any and all medications with your OBGyn before taking them.See 1 more doctor answer
Doctor told me not to take Flagyl because its not safe for my 12 week pregnancy instead he said to douche using vinegar-water. Thought it was bad?
It is Cat B: But some does cross the placenta, I do not recommend douching, vaginal Metrogel is safer even though that does not work well if you have trichomonas, if you have BV I would recommend Cleocin (clindamycin phosphate) vaginal it is cat b and would wait till you are out of 1st trimester which is 13 1/3 weeks I never rec douching when you are preg but u need to discuss with the doc who is taking care of your pregnancy.
Is Flagyl safe during the second trimester? Will it cause fetal loss? 20 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with BV. Is this medicine okay to take?
What does safe mean?: Presumably your doc told you to take it because you have BV. The most dangerous time of a pregnancy is the first 1/3. That is when all the organs are being laid down. After that they get bigger. Everything in medicine involves a risk/benefit analysis. What benefits do I hope to gain versus what risks am I taking. Nothing in life is risk free but yr doc thinks the benefit out ways the risks.
My endo biopsy results came + for plasma cells&polyps. Have been askd to take levaquin&flagyl 10days. Is it possible to get pregnant after the meds? Iui/ivf?
Polyps: This means signs of chronic endometritis, however the polyps may need to be removed prior to attempting any treatment since they may interfere with implantation particularly if they are large.
