I've been having trouble breathing? I'm constantly in the need of deep breathes and feel the need to yawn. Why is that happening?

May be anxiety: If you have a sense of being unable to draw in a full breath or feel the need to yawn, many times anxiety is the problem. If you are short of breath or are becoming winded more easily than normal, you need to see your doctor promptly.

Possible side effect: Zoloft (sertraline) can occasionally cause chest muscles to feel tight and feel like shortness of breath. Rarely causes bronchial constriction but anything is possible. Anxiety is, of course, a common cause of feeling short of breath. Would consider another ssri and don't forget psychotherapy/ behavior therapy.

Many possibilities: The hypothyroidism might contribute to this if your thyroid is quite large and/or your thyroid medication isn't properly adjusted. You might need an ultrasound and blood work. Fibromyalgia might also play a role in the symptoms. It could be many other things that need sorting out with your doctor.

Pathology review: I suspect you have cutaneous and pulmonary sarcoidosis. Get a few competent pathologists to review your biopsies. If this is not the case, have them suggest other etiologies.

What to diagnose for "dyspnea relieved by excess yawning"?

What to diagnose for "dyspnea relieved by excess yawning"?

Air hunger: You might be describing what has been termed air hunger or hyperventilation. If so, it is sometimes due to a relatively increased rate of breathing, resulting in excessive loss of carbon dioxide; this causes a shift of ones blood acidity toward the alkaline side. The brain senses this; the result is anxiety and further shortness of breath. The treatment is rebreathing into a paper bag.

45 yr old woman with graves disease & I swell excessively as much as 30 lbs! I don't eat salt, heart & kidneys fine & I have trouble breathing?

See your doctor: If the hyperthyroidism from graves' is severe, and has not yet been treated, it can cause heart failure, even in people with no heart problems otherwise. The heart failure can result in swelling and shortness of breath. Or the graves' and the swelling may be entirely unrelated. Only way to tell is a face-to-face visit with your doctor.

Have excessive gas after food poisoning. Bloating and at times trouble breathing maybe because of the stress I have. Lower back pain is pres?

Have excessive gas after food poisoning. Bloating and at times trouble breathing maybe because of the stress I have. Lower back pain is pres?

May take a while.: If you truly had a stomach infection then it will take a while to clear. The gas is all part of the process of getting back to normal. If you are having a lot of stress besides this can contribute to the gas and GI upset. You need to talk this over with your doc and plan the best treatment for you together. Reduce or stop the caffeine and alcohol.
