Think rheumatic dz: Definitely confusing! Nontraumatic IP joint swelling, especially in the thumb, brings to mind rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A common complication of RA is costochondritis which affects the rib joints (chest pain) & a variant called Caplan's Syndrome leads to lung nodules. Doubtful: 1/2 of ectopy is not felt, 1/2 of palpitations are not associated with skipped beats. Feeling an ectopic beat at 1 moment doesn't mean there was 1 at that moment. The sensation of a skipped beat, regardless if it actually occurred or not, is for everyone, anxiety provoking. Therefore a brief spell of anxiety is likely the cause of your other symptoms.
