What diet should someone with hypothyroid follow? Avoid what foods?

Iodine good.: Foods from the sea have iodine good. Ones that bind up iodine bad (these are all the healthy broccoli family foods like broccoli, kale, cabbage). Just have more good than bad and don't do silly amounts of either

Can I use ponds cold cream for perioral dermatitis? Or what should I use to wash and moisturize?

Can I use ponds cold cream for perioral dermatitis? Or what should I use to wash and moisturize?

Depends: Perioral dermatitis can be allergic, infectious, fungal, or just irritative. The treatment, therefore, depends on the cause. Cracked, dry lips (especially at the angles) can often be helped with vaseline alone. Allergic or irritative can usually be treated with a short course of steroid cream. If red, blistered, draining, or crusting, you should see a doctor for recommendations.

What can cause perioral dermatitis?

Not clear.: The exact cause of perioral dermatitis is not known. However, it may appear after strong topical steroid creams are applied to the face to treat other conditions. (strong topical steroids should never be applied to the face.) the Fluoride in toothpaste is sometimes blamed, but I think it is rarely (if ever) the cause.

What should I do about perioral dermatitis?

What should I do about perioral dermatitis?

Perioral dermatitis: Perioral dermatitis is a relative of rosacea. It occurs most commonly around the mouth, but can also be around the nose or eyes as well. Because it can be dry or flaky, it is often treated as eczema with topical steroids or heavy moisturizers which make it worse. It is treated with oral antibiotics and topical rosacea medications. Please see your dermatologist.

What's the best oral antibiotic for perioral dermatitis?

Culture of Medicine: This is not how medicine works. There are so many variables that go into choosing the appropriate antibiotic for an individual patient. There is no such list as the 'best' antibiotic until the patient variables are taken into account.

What about sulfa products for the treatmemt of perioral dermatitis and in what formulation?

What about sulfa products for the treatmemt of perioral dermatitis and in what formulation?

If it's an infection: ...it might help. Impetigo often occurs around the lips or mouth. If it's an allergic reaction or irritation, then a mild cortisone cream might help. If it's a cold sore, an antiviral like acyclovir might work. Perioral rashes or sores can be caused by vitamin deficiency but, if you have a healthy diet, that's unlikely. Hope this helps. Dr. Anne

Hello, I was diagnoised with perioral dermatitis. I'm on an oral med. Can I also use yardley london soap- or is dove better? Are both sls free?

Yes and yes.: Sure, you can use either of those products. They are both free of sls (sodium lauryl sulfate). I assume the oral med you are taking is an antibiotic; if that doesn't work, don't worry, another can be tried, because different people respond to different antibiotics.
