My hair has been coming out clumps in the shower I am 24 just diagnosis with hypothyroidism and low platelet count should I be worried?
This is serious: I'll bet the hair stuff is telogen effluvium and I expect when your thyroid is managed it will remit, but you need to monitor the low platelets carefully and see whether your physician working with you can't find a cause. What do you suggest if I have been feeling extremely fatigue. What do you suggest if I have hypothyroidism and a low white blood count and low platelets?
Low wbc.: Hypothyroidism does not lower your white blood cell count, but does cause fatigue. A low white blood cell count may represent infection, allergy, or bone marrow suppression, and low platelets can also be a result of an infection, or a problems with your liver and kidneys. Change meds: Make sure your thyroid level has been normalized with the proper dose of brand name T4 such as synthroid (thyroxine). Stop the cytomel.
