Hypothyroid: Most likely you would have become hypothyroid anyway. Heavy doses of iodine can sometimes affect your thyroid function, but a simple dietary supplement usually will not. ...Read more

Not related to vitaD: and the tsh shows the pituitary gland is trying very hard to keep homone levels up to normal (why the TSH is so high). Most likely thyroid medicaiton is working to maintain the thyroid hormones. Lowering the thyroid hormone and the TSH would go sky high. ...Read more

Also check out http://en.Wikipedia.Org/wiki/myxedema for info re myxedema which is described as thickening of skin associated w/hypothyroidism. This should improve once hypothyroidism is treated.
