Had Graves' disease 28 years ago, now hypothyroidism. My eyes get a lot of pressure behind them. Eyelids open during the night. Painful.

Ointments: With hypothyroidism, your metabolism slows and your mucous can be dry and thickened which frequently blocks the ostia of your sinuses. These small openings connect to the atmosphere. Blocking them raises the pressure in your sinuses and gives you that feeling behind your eyes. Not closing your eyes all the way for sleep, or lagophthalmos, can be treated with Genteal Gel or Refresh PM

Was severely hypothyroid. Still have swelling of eyes and face (rash) and numbness in feet and index finger. Will that go away?

Correct meds: Are you getting the correct meds? Check free T3 and reverse t3. Ft3 should be in upper range and rt3 in lower range. If your ratio is off, you may need Armour Thyroid or t3, and synthroid (thyroxine) would be the wrong med for you. Also check spot urine iodine to make sure you are not deficient. ...Read more

I have hypothyroidism, but still don't seem to feel normal on thyroid meds also I have all the symptoms for hypoparathyroidism twitch lips and eye ect?

Symptoms and disease: Hi. There is no symptom specific for a disease, and no disease specific to a symptom. Are tour thyroid tests normal on your thyroid hormone replacement dose? If so (and if they've been stable for a few months), your symptoms are due to something else, even though the same symptoms may be seen in untreated hypothyroidism. Make sure your labs are normal and take your thyroid hormone as directed. ...Read more

TSH 3 in nov 2014 & 0.05 in jan 2015. Sleep disturbance after starting Synthroid (thyroxine) 88mcg. Tiredness. Sad. Am I overdiagnosed with hypothyroid?

Yes, over diagnosed: Hi. Based on what you've told us, there is no reason to suspect you're hypothyroid. How long have you been on the l-thyroxine? Good luck! ...Read more

Mild pain on side of neck, head, eye twitching, its on and off and feel it in my shoulder. My other muscles were randomly twitching to. I have hypothyroid.

Best to see doctor: The upper cervical nerves form the stellate ganglion which can go rostrad to the head for innervation. The lower ones do control the neck and shoulder muscles. It is difficult to just say that the problem is that. It is best to have it evaluated especially in view of the eye twitching. ...Read more

I am hypothyroid I also have sympyoms of adrenal fatigue. How is it treated?

Adrenal fatigue: A very low cortisol could be addison’s disease (adrenal failure) but this is relatively rare, although slightly more common with hypothyroid. A “low cortisol” is over-diagnosed; the term “adrenal fatigue” is sometimes used, which is a fake diagnosis. If someone says you have this, see an endocrinologist for confirmation. The symptoms of adrenal fatigue are common to many conditions. ...Read more
