Hypothyroidism And Retaining Water
Hypothyroid/hashimoto's. Levels low. Constant bloating, distended belly, water retention. Tried more water, fiber helped little. What else can I do?!
See your doc: If your thyroid levels are low you may need to adjust the dose of your replacement. It sounds as though your symptoms are consistent with an inadequately treated underactive thyroid. Even if your levels were relatively normal, your meds may still need adjusting while you continue to have symptoms. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Could high calcium in the blood and intake of levothyroxine for hypothyroid be cause of strong foul odor in urine? I drink ~3 6oz cups of water a day
Unlikely: Neither high calcium nor levo. Will cause foul odor. Most common cause of dark, strong urine is dehydration. You should be drinking minimum of 100 ounces of fluids/day or enough to keep urine color fairly clear, not only to help lower calcium but to prevent kidney stones . Other causes of foul urine are UTI and certain foods and meds. A urinalysis and culture can determine if UTI present. ...Read more
I have cfs & am hypothyroid. Recently fingertips on left hand sporadically get tight&wrinkly but not in water. I had a + ANA 160 nucleolar. Harmless?
Yes.: First if hypothyroidsim was detected, then you are on meds and no longer hypothyoid. An ANA is found in 5% of the population, and is usually false positive. But you have an autimmine disease already: low thyroid, usually the result of hashimoto's thyroiditis. Cfs is so non-specific, there is frequently no cause found, except poor sleep. You ANA needs to be reflexed to see if it is important. ...Read more
