Anhedonia (numb emotionally) may be coming form insufficient hormone or hormone action. Your TSH should be between 1-2, your ft4 normal and total T3 (liothyronine) normal showing optimal conversion. Why do I have numbness or tingling in various parts of the body associated with hypothyroidism?

Why do I have numbness or tingling in various parts of the body associated with hypothyroidism?

Possibly: Hypothyroidism causes thickening of the covering around tendons called synovium. In some parts of the body, like the carpal tunnel, there is only so much space. If the space is filled with the thicker synovium then the nerve that also is in the carpal tunnel gets pinched. That causes numbness and/or tingling. ...Read more

Can hypothyroid present as finger numbness and stiffness, with slight decrease in reflexes in one arm? Such as if Synthroid (thyroxine) needs adjust in dose?

Unusual: Hypothyroidism can present as carpal tunnel syndrome, which can cause numbness in fingers. Reflexes become slowed in hypothyroidism, but should remain symmetric, so it should not occur in just one arm. It is easy to find out if you are on enough synthroid (thyroxine) by getting a free T4 and TSH level done. ...Read more

I have a lot of trouble sleeping & wake up constantly due to my arms/hands becoming numb every night, could this be related to my hypothyroidism?

Fatigue: I wouldn't think that your HYPOthyroidism would cause you TROUBLE to sleep. Actually, just the reverse, you'd be expected to have trouble staying awake. But in terms of numbness in the hands and arms...that's possible. You'd know if that were the case simply by asking your doctor what your latest numbers are. You could also have other issues causing your symptoms. Speak to your doctor for advice ...Read more

Was severely hypothyroid. Still have swelling of eyes and face (rash) and numbness in feet and index finger. Will that go away?

Was severely hypothyroid. Still have swelling of eyes and face (rash) and numbness in feet and index finger. Will that go away?

Correct meds: Are you getting the correct meds? Check free T3 and reverse t3. Ft3 should be in upper range and rt3 in lower range. If your ratio is off, you may need Armour Thyroid or t3, and synthroid (thyroxine) would be the wrong med for you. Also check spot urine iodine to make sure you are not deficient. ...Read more

I have hypothyroidism, also have strange pressure and sound in my ears when i put my hands on them. And my teeth vibrate, its like pressure in my mouth?

TMJ ?: The sound in your ears could be the disc in your jaw being displaced from an improper jaw relationship. The teeth may be vibrating from muscle spasms caused from muscles trying to splint the displaced joint creating your feeling of pressure in your mouth. Many pts that i treat are both young and can have hypothyroid issues. I would suggest a consult with a dentist trained in treating tmj. ...Read more
