I have symptoms of hypothyroidism and enlarge thyroid but blood work is normal what could be wrong?
GOITER/NORMAL BLOOD: You have a goiter(enlarged thyroid), as long as blood tests t3, (liothyronine) t4, and tsh, you do not need any treatment as long as the goter is not too big causing symptoms, you need an ultrasoung of the thyroid to rule out nodule, and need to repat blood work in3 months.I suppose the thyroid antibody test was negative as well. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
The thyroid gland is an endocrine organ located in the front part of the neck. Its role is to make thyroid hormones, which control the way cells use energy. I have symptoms of an underactive thyroid and an enlarged thyroid but the ultrasound came back normal. What does that mean?
Thyroid levels?: An enlarged thyroid on exam is subjective. The us is better at asessing thyroid size and volume and to rule out other problems which sometimes can be seen on thyroid glands. My doc says I am hypothyroid but I have not gained any weight actually lost some, is this possible? My thyroid is slightly enlarged with some nodules
An ultrasound of my thyroid showed enlargement and cysts on both sides, I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism but my blood tests were normal ?
No surprise: Symtoms of hypothyroidism are nonspecific, with normal T4 T3 (liothyronine) TSH ruling out thyroid as cause. Look for another cause for your symptoms. Nodules are extremely common and if the imaging is not concerning for cancer, you should relax. Nodules do not cause hypothyroidism. Stay proactive and good luck ...Read more
I've been hypothyroid for several years, currently on 240mcg armour. Ultrasound revealed an "enlarged & lumpy" thyroid gland. What can this?
?goiter: Not really sure what this non-descriptive ultrasound is revealing, but it may be cysts, or nodules, or a "generic goiter" causing your enlargement. Have a thyroid specialist (endocrine dr.) evaluate you to be safe. Sometimes a fine needle aspiration (fna) with biopsy may be needed to definitively diagnose it. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Prob normal: Remember, diseases cause symptoms, but having a variety of symptoms doesn't necessarily mean you have that disease. If your testing was normal, then you need to look for another cause to your problems. However, make sure your lab was not only "normal", but appropriate for your age group, and those numbers may be slight different. Consider endocrinologist if desired. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hypothyroidism: i was not diagnosed until i'd been on lithium for 2 yrs. Doctors kept me on it 2 more yrs. Any chance my thyroid will function again?
Replacement works: Being hypothyroid doesn't mean that your thyroid gland is working at all. It just may not be producing the amount of thyroid hormone that is needed. The good thing is that thyroid replacement works great and taking it should be able to prevent all the complications that are associated with hypothyroidism. Regular blood tests should be done to adjust thyroid medication up or down as needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
