Thyroid "normal": As you obviously know all your symptoms fit into hypothyroidism. What you may not know is that the so called normal range thyroid levels is rather broad. Always chapped lips. Abnormally pale skin. High creatinine. Telogen effluvium. Cold extremities. Dry eyes. Sunlight sensitive. All new. Any ideas?!?

High creatinine: You have a plethora of symptoms that cannot be dealt with due to the limitations of characters available to me. For starters, go see a nephrologist (n) to evaluate the cause and treatment of your high serum creatinine level. That would be a good first step. If you cannot find a n, go to your physician or an emergency room for treatment and evaluation. Good luck. ...Read more

25y/o male w/prolactinoma.Thyroid bloodwork normal.Doc says thyroid slightly swollen. Body temp 97.5 oral/feel cold a lot. How is hypothyroid diagnose?

25y/o male w/prolactinoma.Thyroid bloodwork normal.Doc says thyroid slightly swollen. Body temp 97.5 oral/feel cold a lot. How is hypothyroid diagnose?

Thyroid prolactin: Hypothyroid is diagnosed with thyroid blood tests. You would expect an elevated TSH and a low free t4. There is an interaction between thyroid and prolactin. If you are hypothyroid and have an elevated tsh, this will raise the prolactin; correcting the thyroid will normalize the prolactin. But this may not apply to you. The "swollen thyroid" may be separate. See your endocrinologist. ...Read more

Will braces create dry lips and cold sores?

Will braces create dry lips and cold sores?

Cold Sores w/ Braces: Cold sores- technically a herpes simplex virus lesion, have nothing to do with orthtodontic appliances - unless that brackets or wires are causing lip trauma or abrasions, which could incite an hsv outbreak. As far as lip dryness is concerned, chapped lips can also sometimes incite an hsv outbreak, so can stress hormonal changes, sun exposure, etc. Keep your lips regularly moisturized. ...Read more

I have hypothyroidism, take synthroid (thyroxine). body temp is falling to 95 degrees and I am waking in cold sweats soaked. Have anemia and B12 deficient. ?

I have hypothyroidism, take synthroid (thyroxine). body temp is falling to 95 degrees and I am waking in cold sweats soaked. Have anemia and B12 deficient. ?

Possible relation: It is not unusual for patients who have hypothyroidism to have anemia. An autoimmune disease could cause the hypothyroidism and cause antibodies against the factors that make you absorb vitamin B12. The later is usually called pernicious anemia and usually needs vitamin B12 treatment to correct it. Cold intolerance can be caused by hypothryaoidism. Sweets unusual. You should see a doctor for this. ...Read more

Can tpo antibodies be present in subacute thyroiditis? Or does it mean I have hashimotos. Swollen thyroid Tsh normal. Cold hands fatigue hair falling

Anti TPO antibodies: Can be elevated in some people with normal thyroids, and are markers of thyroiditis, depending on the levels and the follow up.
