Hypopituitarism (Overview)

Hypopituitarism is a medical condition in which the pituitary gland, located in the brain, does not function. The pituitary gland is responsible for making many important hormones that tell other glands in the body to produce hormones such as thyroid hormone, growth hormone, estrogen, and testosterone. Children with hypopituitarism have inadequate levels of one or more of these hormones.
