What are the kinds of things you can do to avoid hypogonadism?

Different in kids: In pediatrics hypogonadism is not a matter of lifestyle intervention. Children presenting with hypogonadism can be born with it or it can be acquired as a result of gonadal injury from trauma or forms of chemotherapy/radiation. However, we see kids with delayed puberty who are not necessarily hypogonadal, but "late bloomers." a doctor would need to determine this.

Adult-onset hypogonadotropic hypogonadism--how does gnrh therapy differ from normal testosterone therapy? Which therapy is best for 42 year old male?

Adult-onset hypogonadotropic hypogonadism--how does gnrh therapy differ from normal testosterone therapy? Which therapy is best for 42 year old male?

Only for children: Gnrh is by injection, vey expensive, and only for children -- it wouldn't be appropriate or effective or prescribed for you. Stick with transdermal testosterone. Hopefully, you've had your undescended testicle fixed early in childhood, as they can become cancerous of not brought down surgically early in life. If it's still undescended, see you doctor soon.

I am 26 and have been diagnosed with hypogonadism. How can this be fixed?

Depends.: There is primary and secondary hypogonadism. In men, primary hypogonadism is caused by testicular cancer, trauma, or genetic disorders. Secondary hypogonadism is commonly caused by depression, anxiety, obesity, head trauma, aging, or other chronic diseases. Treatment depends on the cause, so you have to first get a more detailed diagnosis.

Are there natural ways to treat hypogonadism?

Depends: It depends upon the cause of the hypogonadism...If its due to excessive exercise you can cut down on your exercise, if its due to being underweight or having anorexia, counseling and weight gain would help. If its due to something called kallmann's syndrome (a brain defect) then no.... Speak to your doctor about your cause and see if they have a natural solution.

Talk to your doc: The most natural thing to do is to work on weight loss. However if you are symptomatic, your doc could treat you with testosterone replacement now if he/she thinks that you are an appropriate candidate.

Lo function gonad: This is a term to describe a low functioning gonad be it testicle or ovary. When these organs fail to release their hormones physical changes occur. Men will have low testosterone thus won't shave much if at all, height and weight is altered as well. Females will lack estrogen thus not go into puberty as the men.
