Women with gestational diabetes who control it well do have fewer complications. You should exercise regularly everyday. You should follow a strict diet, focus on eating mostly vegetables and lean sources of protein. Eat unprocessed foods (make all your food yourself).

Probably not

Diabetics are prone to experience episodes of hypoglycemia either due to medications or the Somogyi effect. So it would be useful to check for diabetes if you have hypoglycemia. There is no good evidence to my knowledge that shows a causative role of hypoglycemia in the development of diabetes. More likely, an existing diabetic will get hypoglycemia, not the other way around.

*Hyper*glycemia is a symptom of pre-diabetes and eventually diabetes. *Hypo*glycemia can be caused by taking too much insulin to treat diabetes but can caused by fasting and can also be a medication side effect.

Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia can be a warning signal of pre-diabetes. But, it does not have to mean that. It can come from not eating much, being dehydrated, exercising too much. So without much more history from you that is the first thoughts that come to my mind.

No

In my 35 years of practice, I have NEVER seen a case of reactive hypoglycemia. THe disorder doesn't exist, If you're overweight the symptoms are a NATURAL response to your glucose level returning to normal. A glucose tolerance test (if you've had one) is NOT AND NEVER WILL BE a valid diagnostic test for hypoglycemia. Don't waste your money o GTT or any fad diets of treatments. Lose wt if heavy.
