Hypnosis (Overview)

Hypnosis has been shown in some studies to help with nausea and vomiting. The term "hypnosis" comes from the Greek word hypnos, meaning "sleep." Hypnotherapists use exercises that bring about deep relaxation and an altered state of consciousness, also known as a trance. A person in a deeply focused state is unusually responsive to an idea or image, but this does not mean that a hypnotist can control the person's mind and free will. On the contrary, hypnosis can actually teach people how to master their own states of awareness. By doing so they can affect their own bodily functions and psychological responses.

Does hypnosis really work, or is it a scam?

No scam: hypnosis may work for certain issues like recalling memories that may be too traumatic for the conscious mind to want to recollect. The fact is that one has to be able to release themselves to the person who is guiding them through the hypnosis. If one cannot do that, then it is difficult to be hypnotized. There is a great deal of evidence that supports hypnosis also. ...Read more

What to do if i faked my hypnosis session yesterday?

You can expect : no improvement. Faking or lying to your therapist/hypnotist only misled you. They need honest feedback in order to best help you. If you weren't relaxed enough, ask for more suggestion and time to relax before they implant suggestions. This process requires trust and honesty on both parties to work. Try again tell them what happened. They will understand and be glad you told the truth hopefully! ...Read more

Is hypnosis real or fake? If it is real, how is it possible for people to fall in to this spell to become and do things they normally do not do?

It can be very real: People can fake things, but - especially licensed therapeutic hypnosis - is very real and often effective. Things not normally done are not = to things morally offensive. Types of resistance are lower, but not moral/ethical discrimination. The process happens to some degree every day. Being very absorbed in reading, music, fantasy, etc. Is similar.
