Tsh 0.313 told I have hyperthyroidism, enlarged thyroid gland. Losing weight, heart palp, & trouble sleeping. What are my chances of Graves' disease.
Hyperthyroidism: There are several causes of hyperthyroidism, the most common of which are Graves disease and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Given the secondary impacts on other organs, the diagnosis needs to be clarified and determined as early as possible so treatment can begin. Both of these causes could be associated with the symptoms you describe. Get your further testing done and get treatment going. ...Read more

Suffering from hypo thyroid taking 100mcg thyroxine sodium tabulates .I am 37 year old weight 82 kilo height 5ft10inch blood pressure 140/95 help me.
Not sure what: You need help with. Your blood pressure is high and needs treatment, however, people don't "suffer" from hypothyroidism, as it's very easy to treat and correct with brand name T4 replacement. Just have your doctor adjust the dose after testing every 6 weeks until the levels are consistently normal, then it only needs a once/year check. No suffering is required. ...Read more
24 yr male with 60 kg, 5.5" tall, high anti-TPO antibodies..And a slightly elevated tsh.. Normal t3and t4..Not gaining weight.. Shd i start thyroxine?
Hard call: Different endocrinologists will offer you different opinions. Staying trim like you are now is of course good. The question is whether your hashimoto's (which i suspect you have -- does your physician?) is slipping into hypothyroidism; only a minority do -- and if so, whether you want to take a bit of thyroxine perhaps as an experiment. Talk with yourdoctor & perhaps a 2nd opinion. Good luck. ...Read more
Unlikely : By the age of 18 your growth plates are going to be closing pretty soon. This is the part of the bone that allows new bone to form and lengthen the bones. Hashimotos in remission. Off Synthroid (thyroxine) a year. Normal thyroid tests. High tsh. Blindinheadaches nausea rapid weight loss im down 30 lbs in short time?
Huh?: I am having trouble understanding the question. High TSH would be an "abnormal" thyroid test and would indicate that hashimoto's is not in remission. This could cause your symptoms. If your TSH is normal i would suggest a visit to the doctor for evaluation as rapid weight loss or accelerating wt loss is not generally a good thing. ...Read more

Hi, t3 (liothyronine) uptake: 32, t4 free 1.35, t4 11.8, FTI 3.8, TSH 2.050, im taking .50 mcg levothyroxine..hows my thyroid, gain 40 pounds last few years?
Not your thyroid: I can't say if you needed to be started on T4 without seeing your test results before treatment but your current tests show normal thyroid levels on your current dose. It is rare for an underactive thyroid to case weight gain and when it does, the thyroid is severely underactive and weight gain is no more than 5-10 lb. So your 40 lb weight gain is likely due to lifestyle not hormonal issues ...Read more

Thyroid nodule. FNA benign. male. Last 2 tests. TSH high normal 4.0, and 4.2. FT4 Normal. TPO AB high at 39 (0-9 range)
do I need medication?
No: One of the questions with regard to thyroid nodules pertains to number and activity of the nodule. If on scan one sees several nodules, the dx for the most part is goiter. FNA can easily miss the nodule or can be read as an adenoma. A functional scan should be performed. If hot the nodule should be left alone. If the solitary nodule is cold there is a 30% chance the nodule is or will be Ca. ...Read more
