Not likely: There are several possible explanations for hyperthyroidism + goiter. At age 35, the most common cause is graves' disease, not a cancerous condition. Sometimes hyper is caused by multiple thyroid nodules. In that case, we do a iodine thyroid scan to identify nodules causing the hyper (hot nodules) and nodules not causing it (cold).
