Hyperthyroid And Adrenal Exhaustion
Get treatment: I'm not sure what kind of adrenal problem you have, but if it is adrenal insufficiency, the overactive thyroid could make that much worse. Both conditions need treatment. Treatment options for an overactive thyroid include surgery to remove the thyroid, radioactive iodine to kill the thyroid, and pills to block the production of thyroid hormone. ...Read more
Autoimmune disease: I do not know that one would cause the other. However, Addison's disease (adrenal insufficiency) and Graves disease (hyperthyroidism) are both autoimmune, and autoimmune endocrine issues often coexist, or occur in someone at different times in their life. Check out "Schmidt's syndrome". ...Read more
Could adrenals and other hormone imbalances cause hyperthyroid every year for 4, 5 mos and normalizes by itself. When thyroid is normal-feel unwell.Pls?
I have post partum hyperthyroidism. I'm extremely symptomatic. My blood pressure is 90/60. The Endo thinks it cld be my adrenals causing this?
Could be...: Based on that info, what I can say is that it's true that the functioning of the thyroid and adrenals are closely intertwined. The low blood pressure despite the fast thyroid make me think that perhaps there could be a component of adrenal hypo functioning along with the thyroid hyper functioning. Sounds like you need an intensive investigation. ...Read more
Hyperthyroidism and nodules .Ths is 0.50 sudden pain in thyroid and feeling unwell, exhaustion, nervousness drskeep sending me for ultrasounds and bl?
I went to the doctor for weight gain n fatigue. My tests show freet4 11.1 and TSH 1.20..Im so confused because it looks like hyperthyroid?
Difficult to say: Tsh has a longer half life than ft4, so if the increase in T4 is more acute, then you might not see a change in TSH yet. It would be important to repeat the lab tests to confirm them. This can be caused from subclinical thyroiditis, postpartum thyroiditis, hashitoxicosis, graves disease, a toxic nodule(s) or certain medications. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can hyperthyroidism cause vomiting and fatigue? Been vomiting for weeks and docs can't find anything and I have doc app to check thyroid tomorrow.
Thyroid vomiting: If you have hyperthyroidism why hasn't any one taken care of that! If your doctor(s) have not yet taken good care of your hyperthyroidism you should make an appointment with an Endocrinologist as soon as possible. If the "docs" can't find anything, have your friends refer you to a better set of doctors! Please let me know how you get on. ...Read more
Can I have hyperthyroidism even if tests have been negative? Symptoms of rapid weight loss, hair loss, fatigue and dry circular skin patches.
Unlkikely!: If your TSH is normal, and your free T4 and T3 (liothyronine) are normal, it would be quite (no extremely) unlikely that you are hyperthyroid. Illness itself can cause hair and weight loss. I suspect you need an alternate diagnosis. Since I do not know your age, it is hard to make suggestive diagnoses. ...Read more
Can thyroid issues (hyperthyroidism/graves) affect the vocal cords? Meaning can it make your vocal cords fatigue more easily while talking? Thank you
Hyperthyroid : Hyperthyroidism itself does not affect your voice. However, if your gland is enlarged and compresses the recurrent laryngeal nerve( the nerve that supplies function to the vocal cords), you could actually have vocal cord paresis(weakness) or paralysis( immobile vocal cord) that affects your voice. See an ENT to do laryngoscopy. ...Read more

Hypo or Hyperthyroidism? Or...
Depends on the lab: but if the lab values are normal... then it might not be a thyroid problem. You would expect all the labs to be abnormal and quite a bit abnormal if the condition is present for a while and serious. Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health ...Read more

Normal lab results, hyper thyroid symptoms. (tachycardia/insomnia) is Synthroid (thyroxine) or armour preferred? Possible adrenal issue?
Not for hyper: Adding thyroid hormone replacement to a hyperthyroid gland will exacerbate the problem. If there is underlying adrenal insufficiency, adrenal crisis is more likely to occur in someone with hyperthyroidism. Highly recommend endocrine evaluation if you have these issues. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Many can help: The medical profession recognizes addison's disease, an extreme form of low adrenal function. However, only 1 in 10-25, 000 people have severe enough adrenal problems to qualify for addison's, but many millions have lesser yet very significant degrees of poor adrenal function. See http://www.Adrenalfatigue.Org/ and the book adrenal fatigue by dr. James wilson. See my comments for more information. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
