Hypertensive Spasm Cardiac Sphincter
The last few weeks I have been slowly increasing the amount of kegels i practice. Recently my sphincter muscle has been spasming. Why?
Levator Spasm: Congratulations on starting your kegel's at the age of 23. If there's one preventative thing you can do for your genitourinary health, that's it. Sometimes though, contractions of the muscles in the vaginal region can lead to spasms -- levator syndrome/spasm predisposes you to tight, rigid muscles that require physical therapy to help you relax. Get a pt referral, you may need vaginal dilators. ...Read more
Fundoplication in 1986, having some issues lately, told by specialist my cardiac sphincter is not opening like it should, but not to worry about it ?
Indigestion?: They likely meant esophageal sphincter, not cardiac. I am not sure what issues you are having, if it's indigestion then I recommend modifying your diet to less acidic foods, decreasing the amount of food you consume, adding in some antacids and consuming foods which will move through your intestines faster rather than binding foods such as meats and starches. ...Read more

61 yr old hypertensive male has total occlusion of right coronary andom.Stenting of om1 done. Ejection fraction is 45-50%. Is CABG indicated for rca?
Likely no: The damage that could have been done from the occluded rca has already happened, and the vessel can't get worse than totally occluded, so, provided that anginalsymptoms symptoms are controlled there is no need to do anything. Overtime, compensation typically occurs for an occluded vessel in the form of progressive collateral circulation. ...Read more
Unlikely: Though everyone's body is unique, simply lying down is unlikely to cause a sphincter of oddi spasm. I in fact just searched the medical literature and cannot locate a report of this happening. Spasm may be related to shifting stomach contents, so spasm may occur if you are lying down with a full stomach. Sphincter of oddi spasm is potentially serious, so please consult a physician. ...Read more

I have a fissure., using cortisone cream -burning. He suggested botox I am having spasms in the sphincter. Will it go away? What's recovery time?
I have a UTI that seems to be making my sphincter of oddi spasm and is very painful. I'm taking an antibiotic. Should i just wait or go get checked?
Wrong Sphincter: The sphincter of oddi is a muscular valve that controls the flow of digestive juices from the pancreas and gall bladder into duodenum. It is not part of the urinary tract. That said, it is not uncommon for a UTI to cause spasm of the bladder neck and urethral sphincter interfering with normal urination: hesitancy, intermittency, weak stream. This will improve with antibiotic treatment of your uti. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I sometimes suffer from a bowel sphincter muscle that gets painfull spasms for a few minutes then subsides. Only happens rarely, must i worry about it?
Anal spasm: Anal or levator muscle spasm itself doesn't cause stool leakage, but associated anal fissure, lax sphincter tone or mild inflammation of the rectum(proctitis) may cause leakage of rectal mucus. A proctologist or colorectal surgeon would be best qualified to evaluate and treat you. ...Read more
What else besides nitro cream (side effects not good) can be used to relieve pain from anal sphincter spasms and throbbing pain. Anything natural?
Diltiazem 2% ointmen: 50% of fissures will get better on their own, without any intervention. For the other half, the majority can get treated with these ointments. Unfortunately, there is not a natural remedy that has been investigated that provides cure. If the side effects are bothering you with the nitro ointment, Diltiazem has a lower side effect profile and higher cure rate. I'd suggest that. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Anal pain&stool leakage, did a colonoscopy& everything seemed normal.I think I have sphincter spasm which causes constipation which worsens spasm??
Increase Fiber: This sounds terrible for you. Chronic constipation can result in anal pain and spasm. Ideally, increasing your fiber by eating a lot of vegetobles -- I recommend a pound per day -- will soothe your constipation and provide your daily dose of fiber. With a normal colonoscopy, often we have to circle back to lifestyle modification to help. Also try 4 prunes a day. Very effective for constipation. ...Read more
