See a Specialist: You should see either a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon who specializes in acne scarring, cosmetic surgery and lasers. They would own many lasers and have many years of experience treating acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and other disorders. Chemical acid peels do not work as well as lasers but some doctors do not own any lasers and only offer chemical peels. But lasers cost more. ...Read more

Unlikely to reverse: It sounds like the hyperpigmented skin is a side-effect from the laser. There are creams that you can buy over the counter to help with sun and age spots, but it is unlikely that your skin tone will return to normal after all this time. In general, the laser therapies result in skin discoloration that commercial advertisements do not disclose. Try the creams first, then see a dermatologist next. ...Read more
